    Abstract
Proposes an alternative way in assisting users in finding information on the WWW. Since the Web is made up many Web servers, instead of searching all the Web servers, proposes that ech server does its own housekeeping. A software agent named SiteHelper is designed to act as a housekeeper for the Web server and as a helper for a Web user to find relevant information at a particular site. In order to assist the Web user in finding relevant information at the local site, SiteHelper interactively and incrementally learns about the Web user's areas of interest and aids them accordingly. To provide such intelligent capabilities, SiteHelper deploys enhanced HCV with incremental learning facilities as its learning and inference engines

    Abstract
Presents a simple server side concept for building hierarchical guided tour structures in the WWW using any existing WWW pages. The pages used within a tour need not be aware of being used. They may occur multiple times within several tours. Presents a server based implementation as a demonstration

    Abstract
Presents an approach that integrates searching and browsing in a manner that improves both paradigms. When browsing is the primary task, it enables semantic content-based tailoring of Web maps in both the generation as well as the visualization phases. When search is the primary task, it enables contextualization of the results by augmenting them with the documents' neighbourhoods. This approach is embodied in WebCutter, a client-server system fully integrated with Web software. WebCutter consists of a map generator running off a standard Web server and a map visualization client implemented as a Java applet runalble from any standard Web browser and requiring no installation or external plug-in application. WebCutter is in beta stage and is in the process of being integrated into the Lotus Domino application product line

    Abstract
The success of the World Wide Web Shows that we can access, search, and retrieve information from globally distributed databases. lf a database, such as a library catalog, has some sort of Web-based front end, we can type its URL into a Web browser and use its HTML-based forms to search for items in that database. Depending an how well the query conforms to the database content, how the search engine interprets the query, and how the server formats the results into HTML, we might actually find something usable. While the first two issues depend an ourselves and the server, an the Web the latter falls to the mercy of HTML, which we all know as a great destroyer of information because it codes for display but not for content description. When looking at an HTML-formatted display, we must depend an our own interpretation to recognize such entities as author names, titles, and subject identifiers. The Web browser can do nothing but display the information. lf we want some other view of the result, such as sorting the records by date (provided it offers such an option to begin with), the server must do it. This makes poor use of the computing power we have at the desktop (or even laptop), which, unless it involves retrieving more records, could easily do the result Set manipulation that we currently send back to the server. Despite having personal computers wich immense computational power, as far as information retrieval goes, we still essentially use them as dumb terminals.

Proposes a generic architecture which adheres to the existing standards and client/server model and alleviates the performance handicap of classical relational database gateways. Abstract
Presents 4 server-side solutions that follow existing indexing software to index the textual representation of non-textual resources on the WWW or on an intranet. They operate with existing indexing tools. All the methods send different responses depending on whether the request was made from a robot or from a user. Also presents 3 methods for recognising requests from robots

    Abstract
Reports on experiences using WebSQL, a high level declarative query language for extracting information from the WWW. WebSQL takes advantage of multiplex index servers without requiring users to know about them, and integrates full-text with topology-based queries. Illustrates the use of WebSQL for application development by describing 2 applications: Web site maintenance and specialized index construction. Sketches several other possible applications. Using the library implements a client-server architecture that allows performance of interactive intelligent searches on the Web from an applet running on a browser

    Abstract
Describes a WWW based system which allows users to view, search and post geographically indexed information of the Earth. 2 geographic browsers have been developed: a 2D map browser capable of continuous scroll and zoom of an arbitrarily large sheet and a 3D flight-simulator browser capable of continuous flight around the Earth. On the server side, a geographical and geometrical server has been developed which contains large databases of images, elevations, lines, points and polygons stored in tiles structured into hierarchical pyramids or quadtrees. A metadata server has also been developed which contains URL pointers and geographical coordinates of various WWW documents, geographical information and geometrical models

    Abstract
The World Wide Web (WWW) is one of the newest tools available to assist in the navigation of the Internet. As with other client/server network tools such as Gopher and WAIS, developments with the Web are in a dynamic state of change. Basically, WWW is an effort to organize information on the Internet plus local information into a set of hypertext documents; a person navigates the network by moving from one document to another via a set of hypertext links
