- Abstract
- Bibliothekarische Sacherschließung stellt zunächst eine praktische Aufgabe dar. Gleichwohl sollte bibliothekarische Sacherschließung als Ganzes und in einem wesentlichen Teilbereich wie der Systematischen Freihandaufstellung auch in ihrer historischen Entwicklung und Bedeutung gesehen werden. Ein bedeutender Aspekt bleibt die notwendige Einordnung in das größere Umfeld, vor allem der Bibliotheksgeschichte, aber auch der Wissenschaftsgeschichte. Schwerpunkte bilden hier die Geschichte der Dezimalmethode mit den Teilbereichen UDK und DDC und die Nachkriegsgeschichte der klassifikatorischen Erschließung an wissenschaftlichen Bibliotheken Deutschlands, einschließlich der neuen Entwicklung der Verbundarbeit in der Klassifikation. Bedeutend sind weiter die Beispiele für den Vergleich von Aufstellungsklassifikationen als Annäherung an eine zu entwickelnde Methodik. Dabei stellen sich auch Fragen des Inhalts ausgewählter Klassifikationssysteme in historischer Betrachtung. Dies entspricht bereits dem Bibliotheksplan 73, der immerhin Fragen der Bibliotheksgeschichte und der Klassifikation zu den genuinen Bereichen bibliothekswissenschaftlicher Forschung rechnet.

Lorenz die bibliothekarische Sacherschließung im gesamten und stellt sie aus der Sicht der historischen Entwicklung und Bedeutung dar. Es geht ihm darum, historische Kenntnisse zu nutzen, um Erfahrungen nachzuvollziehen und Fehler weitgehend zu vermeiden bzw. zu minimieren. So bildet die Einordnung in das größere Umfeld der Bibliotheksgeschichte und der Wissenschaftsgeschichte einen wesentlichen Faktor. Dies erfolgt in Verbindung mit wissenschaftlichen Fragestellungen, da der Autor darauf aufbaut, dass die Wissenschaftsgeschichte eine wesentliche Grundlage einer reflektierenden Inhaltserschließungsdiskussion darstellt. Das Werk liefert daher historische Beispiele für die Bedeutung und Definition bibliothekarischer Aufstellungsklassifikationen ebenso wie Grundüberlegungen zur Systematischen Aufstellung einschließlich besonderer Anforderungen und Berücksichtigung von Problemen anhand von Beispielen aus Theorie und Praxis. Das Kapitel über die Geschichte der Systematischen Freihandaufstellung liefert daher Beispiele aus Klosterbibliotheken des Mittelalters bis hin zum Bereich der Privatbibliotheken von Ärzten späterer Zeit. Wichtige internationale Klassifikationen sowie Neuentwicklungen an neueren deutschen Universitätsbibliotheken versieht der Autor allerdings mit kritischen Anmerkungen betreffend die Unterschiede innerhalb von Systematiken. Dem folgt eine Gegenüberstellung von Aufstellungssystematiken bzw. Beispielen für den Vergleich von Aufstellungsklassifikationen. B. Lorenz beweist in seinen "Notizen" als "Wechselspiel" deutlich, wie untrennbar die Geschichte der bibliothekarischen Sacherschließung von der Geschichte der Wissenschaften ist. Letztendlich kommt der Autor übereinstimmend mit Klara Erdei zu dem Schluß, "dass der Online-Katalog nicht den Untergang sondern eher eine Renaissance der bibliothekarischen Klassifikation mit sich bringen kann: eine noch benutzerfreundlichere, vielseitigere Realisierung der systematischen Erschließung und Suche". Das vorliegende Werk ist keine technische Auflistung von formalen, pragmatischen oder strukturellen Fragen und es ist auch keine weitere Darstellung des Wesens der Systematik. Vielmehr ist es dem Autor erfolgreich gelungen, den Fragen der hierarchisch höchst- bzw. hochstehenden Gliederungen und des Inhalts ausgewählter Klassifikationssysteme in historischer Betrachtung nachzugehen."

- Abstract
- Dieser Beitrag behandelt die in Österreich und Deutschland in Öffentlichen Bibliotheken weit verbreiteten Klassifikationen. Dies sind in Deutschland im Wesentlichen die Systematik für Bibliotheken (SfB), die Allgemeine Systematik für Öffentliche Bibliotheken (ASB), die daraus entwickelte Systematik der Stadtbibliothek Duisburg (SSD), die Klassifikation für Allgemeinbibliotheken (KAB) sowie die beiden konfessionell geprägten und verwendeten Klassifikationen Sachbuchsystematik für Katholische öffentliche Büchereien (SKB) und Systematik für evangelische Büchereien (SEB). In Österreich wird weitestgehend die Österreichische Systematik für öffentliche Bibliotheken (ÖSÖB) verwendet. Diese Klassifikationen werden unter dem Gesichtspunkt ihrer formalen Eigenschaften (Hierarchien, Klassenbeschreibungen) und unter der Fragestellung ihrer inhaltlichen Eignung für den Anwendungsbereich untersucht.

- Abstract
- Systematiken zur Erschließung der Medienbestände sind alltägliches Handwerkszeug in der Bibliothekspraxis. Unspektakulär und kaum beachtet - wenn sie auf aktuellem Stand sind, den dynamischen Anforderungen des Medienmarkts gerecht werden und bequem zusammen mit Katalogdaten und den Medien ins Haus geliefert werden. Um die beiden meistverwendeten Systematiken in Öffentlichen Bibliotheken in Deutschland, die ASB (Allgemeine Systematik für Öffentliche Bibliotheken) und die KAB (Klassifikation für Allgemeinbibliotheken), wieder zu einem solchen unverzichtbaren Handwerkszeug zu machen, haben der Berufsverband Information Bibliothek (BIB) und der Deutsche Bibliotheksverband (dbv) als Rechteinhaber der Systematiken 2009 mit der ekz. bibliotheksservice GmbH ihre bestehende Partnerschaft in der »Systematikkooperation« erneuert. Das Ziel ist, durch gemeinsames Engagement die Systematiken künftig laufend den aktuellen Medienentwicklungen anzupassen und weiterzuentwickeln.

- "Im Frühjahr 2010 hat eine Kommission aus je drei Praktikerinnen und Systematikexpertinnen aus ASB- und KAB-Anwenderbibliotheken ihre Arbeit aufgenommen. Als ASB-Expertinnen aktiv sind: Birgit Bellinger (Stadtbücherei Stuttgart), Barbara Kette (Stadtbibliothek Mannheim) und Uta Nieper (Stadtbibliothek Saarbrücken). Die KAB wird vertreten durch Sigrid Riedel (Stadt- und Regionalbibliothek Frankfurt/ Oder), Ulrike Rosner (Stadtbibliothek Chemnitz) und Daniela Sitte-Zöllner (Städtische Bibliotheken Dresden). Tatkräftig unterstützt wird die Expertinnengruppe von der ekz, die die Geschäfte führt und das Know-how der ekz-Systematisierer einbringt. Den Vorsitz hat Heinz-Jürgen Lorenzen im Auftrag der Steuerungsgruppe der Systematikkooperation übernommen. Ziel der Arbeit ist es, durch die kooperative Pflege der Systematiken die anfallende Arbeit auf mehrere Schultern zu verteilen und damit mittelfristig Synergieeffekte zu erzielen. Neben der anstehenden Aktualisierungsarbeit an beiden Systematiken soll künftig aber auch weitergedacht werden: Angestrebt wird eine schrittweise Angleichung von ASB und KAB, sodass langfristig zwei kompatible Systematiken unter Beibehaltung der jeweiligen Notationen entstehen. Ein erstes Update für ausgewählte, besonders dringlich anstehende Gruppen der ASB ist für Anfang 2012 geplant: So befinden sich derzeit die Gruppen Z, 0, H in der Bearbeitung. Der Arbeitsplan sieht vor, danach die Gruppen E, N, P, U, und We in Angriff zu nehmen. Weiterer Überarbeitungsbedarf aus Sicht der Fachöffentlichkeit kann gerne an den Vorsitzenden gerichtet werden.
Einbindung der Berufspraxis Die intensive Einbindung der Berufspraxis ist bei diesem anspruchsvollen und in hohem Maße praxisrelevanten Thema ein zentrales Anliegen der Partner. Sie erfolgt in erster Linie durch die Expertinnengruppe, aber zum anderen auch durch die Einbindung sogenannter »Referenzbibliotheken«. Diese begleiten die Arbeit der Expertinnen und sind Diskussionsund Sparringspartnerinnen. Ihre Aufgabe ist es zum Beispiel, Differenzierungsbedarf bei zu stark belegten Untergruppen, Löschbedarf von Untergruppen, Aktualisierungen, aber auch den Wunsch nach umfassenderen Änderungen zu melden. Darüber hinaus werden ihnen Lösungsvorschläge der Expertinnen zur Kommentierung vorgelegt. Damit sollen weiterer Sachverstand und praktische Erfahrungen in die Arbeit einfließen und diese auf eine noch breitere Basis gestellt werden. Als Referenzbibliotheken arbeiten die Stadtbibliotheken in Bremerhaven, Heilbronn, Ludwigshafen und Mönchengladbach aktiv am Projekt mit. Um die Arbeit in der Expertinnengruppe möglichst effizient zu gestalten, wird verstärkt auf Online-Kommunikation gesetzt. Dazu wird von der ekz über eine Online-Plattform ein Wiki bereitgestellt und betrieben. In diesem sind die beiden Systematiken hinterlegt, ebenso werden dort die anstehenden Aktualisierungen in der Expertinnengruppe abgestimmt. Dies reduziert zum einen den Zeitaufwand durch Sitzungen für die Expertinnen, zum anderen erfolgt damit die Dokumentation der Arbeit. Unterstützt wird diese Arbeit von der Steuerungsgruppe der Systematikkooperation mit Vertretern von BIB, dbv und ekz, die in enger Abstimmung mit der Expertengruppe Grundsatzfragen und die Projektplanung klärt."

- Abstract
- Klassifikationen sind in Bibliotheken heute wichtiger als je zuvor. Sie eignen sich nicht nur hervorragend für die physische Anordnung von Büchern und anderen Medienwerken, sondern sind genauso erfolgreich dafür einsetzbar, große Datenmengen in Katalogen und anderen Nachweisinstrumenten zu strukturieren und sinnvoll nutzbar zu machen. Der Band gibt zunächst eine Einführung in die bibliothekarische Klassifikationstheorie und stellt dann die in Bibliotheken des deutschen Sprachraums überregional eingesetzten Universalklassifikationen vor. Er informiert außerdem über die Nutzung von Klassifikationen in Katalogen und Suchsystemen sowie die Frage der semantischen Interoperabilitätim Kontext der Wissensorganisation. Ziel des Bandes ist es, eine Übersicht über die gegenwärtig in Bibliotheken des deutschen Sprachraums überregional eingesetzten Universalklassifikationen zu geben. Die Fülle an vorhandenen Klassifikationen bedingt die thematische Konzentration auf Universalklassifikationen; reine Fachklassifikationen sind nicht Gegenstand der Darstellung, finden jedoch in einzelnen Beiträgen Erwähnung.

- Im Oktober 2006 wird die Systematik für Bibliotheken (SfB) in einer neuen, überarbeiteten Auflage erscheinen. Die Neuauflage wurde gemeinsam von der Stadtbibliothek Bremen, der Büchereizentrale Schleswig-Holstein, der Stadtbücherei Frankfurt/Main und der Stadtbibliothek Hannover bearbeitet. Die Redaktion liegt bei der Stadtbibliothek Hannover.

- "Die Systematik für Bibliotheken (SfB) umfasst 31 Fachgebiete mit mehreren Formal- und Sachschlüsseln. Die SfB ist eine Aufstellungssystematik, deren hierarchische Gliederung es erlaubt, sie in Bibliotheken unterschiedlicher Größe und Schwerpunktsetzung einzusetzen. Neben zahlreichen Öffentlichen gehören auch wissenschaftliche Bibliotheken zu den Anwendern. Die Aktualisierung, Pflege und Weiterentwicklung der SfB erfolgt in Kooperation durch die genannten vier Bibliotheken. Nachdem in der letzten Fassung - das update erschien 2003 - das Fach Geschichte grundlegend revidiert wurde, werden in der neuen Auflage die Fächer Kunst, Soziologie und Sozialpolitik neu strukturiert angeboten. In den anderen Fächern sind vor allem Aktualisierungen vorgenommen worden, so dass der Änderungsaufwand für die Anwenderbibliotheken gering ist. Zusätzlich zu den Fachsystematiken wird es auf Wunsch zahlreicher Anwender im Anhang Mustersystematiken zur Erschließung der Literatur einer Stadt und einer Region sowie eine Änderungsliste geben. Sowie mit der grundsätzlichen Revision einzelner Fachsystematiken als auch mit der kontinuierlichen Systematikpflege verfolgen die Herausgeber das Ziel, den Bedürfnissen der Bibliotheken nach einem praxistauglichen Erschließungsinstrument entgegen zu kommen. In Absprache mit dem Saur Verlag, der die gedruckte SfB mit Stand 1997 vertreibt, bieten die Herausgeber allen SfB-Kunden die neu überarbeitete Fassung als PDF-Version passwortgeschützt im Internet an."
