    Abstract
    Multimedia wird unser Leben vermutlich ähnlich einschneidend verändern, wie der Buchdruck im 15. Jahrhundert unsere gesamte Kultur revolutioniert hat. Welche Veränderungen die neue Kommunikationstechnologie bringen wird, hängt nicht nur von der Hard- und Software der Multimediasysteme ab, sondern auch von der Hard- und Software des Menschen - von Gehirnprozessen und psychologischen 'Programmen' beim Denken, Wahrnehmen und Fühlen. Die Möglichkeiten, aber auch die Grenzen multimedialer Information werden deutlich, wenn man sich etwa vor Augen führt, wie viel Information wir allein beim Sehen ausblenden, wie wir Information im Gedächtnis abspeichern, wie wir verschiedenen Sinne synchronisieren. Auch für Medien gilt: Weniger ist manchmal mehr. Wenn man das Buch in die Hand nimmt und die Demonstrationsprogramme auf der beiliegenden CD-ROM dazu anschaut, wird man verstehen, warum es immer noch gewinnbringend ist, ein Buch zu lesen, und warum es durch ein elektronisches Medium sinnvoll ergänzt werden kann

    Abstract
    Elektronische Produktion, Verbreitung und Rezeption von Texten - deren integrative Wechselbeziehungen eingeschlossen - verändern unausweichlich unsere Forschungs-, Lernund Arbeitsbedingungen. In diesem Wandel braucht es Orientierung, Strategien und Kompetenzen. Dieser Band bietet sie in interdisziplinärer Vielfalt. Teil 1 befaßt sich mit Wissen und Wissenschaft. Er spannt den Bogen der Medientheorie von der Antike bis ins 21. Jahrhundert und bietet einen konstruktivistischen Ansatz für das Wissensmanagement. Textsortenkonventionen und Hypertext sind ebenso Schwerpunkte wie empiriegestützte Guidelines und innovative Werkzeuge für das wissenschaftliche Arbeiten. Teil 2 ist Lernumgebungen gewidmet. Reflexionen zur Theorie von hypermedialem Lernen und Kognition werden ergänzt durch ein Produktionssystem für interaktive Software. Eine Felduntersuchungvergleicht Varianten kooperativen Schreibens, ein Schreibdidaktik-Projekt vermittelt zwischen Studium und Beruf. Teil 3 vereint unter dem Titel «Domänen der Praxis» empirische Erhebungen zur Text(re)produktion und elektronischen Kommunikation im Berufsalltag, die Konzeption eines Werkzeugs für die Übersetzungsarbeit und den Ausblick auf kulturspezifische Web-Sites in der Wirtschaft.

    "Damit die Formen, in denen Multimedia in den nächsten Jahren entstehen wird, nicht nur von wirtschaftlichen Interessen dominiert werden, ist eine breite und aktive Beteiligung vor allem von jungen Leuten notwendig. Politische Konzepte zu Multimedia sind bisher allerdings wenig geeignet, diese Aneignung der neuen Technologien zu fördern. Es fehlt weitgehend an medienpädagogischen Möglichkeiten für Jugendliche, mit Multimedia projektbezogen zu arbeiten und zu experimentieren. Ganz besonders gilt dies für sozial benachteiligte Jugendliche, die hauptsächlich als zukünftige Konsumenten multimedialer Unterhaltung betrachtet werden"

    Abstract
    Aus- und Weiterbildung werden in der Informationsgesellschaft zunehmend in virtuellen Lehr- und Lernumgebungen stattfinden.     Abstract
    Das Faktum, Daß Nachrichtentechnik, das Verlagswesen, Film-Funk-Fernsehen (FFF) zum 'Global village' zusammenwachsen, ist mittlerweile hinlänglich bekannt. Über die technische Verfügbarkeit neuer Systeme und Anwendungen halten uns die Medien auf dem laufenden, wohingegen die Formen der Präsentation ins Hintertreffen geraten. Unter Präsentationsformen ist in diesem Zusammenhang die 'marktfähige Verpackung' der Inhalte zu verstehen. Dies ist eine Themestellung, die insbesondere für den IuD-Bereich von Interesse ist. Kritische Literatur zu diesem Themenkreis hat bislang allerdings Seltenheitswert: Wer sich als Leser nicht mit unbegründeten Floskeln oder flauen Kochrezepten für Multimedia-Software zufrieden gibt, muss lange suchen. Michael Kerres, Professor für Pädagogische Psychologie mit Schwerpunkt Medien an der Ruhr-Universität Bochum und obendrein Gründer der Tele-Akademie der Fachhochschule Furtwangen, ebnet mit seinem Buch den Weg für eine differenzierte Auseinandersetzung. Der dumpfen Schwarzweißmalerei à la 'Lehrer sind zu teuer' contra 'Computer sind dumm' stellt er die Ergebnisse der pädagogischen Forschung, die Erfahrungen aus der immerhin 40-jährigen Geschichte des computerunterstützen Lernens und Lehrens sowie den Stand der Technik entgegen. 'Multimediale und telemediale Lernumgebungen' spannt einen weiten Bogen. Dieser beginnt bei der Geschichte von Ansätzen wie Behaviourismus und Konstruktivismus sowie entsprechender Lernsoftware und führt über Konzeptionsfragen, insbesondere der Zielanalyse, bis hin zu konkreten Entwicklungsverfahren mit Prototypen und Evaluation. Sogar kurze Handreichungen etwa zur Filmproduktion und zur Kostenschätzung fehlen nicht. Der Schreibstil gerät hier und dort so akademisch-sperrig wie schon der Titel - hier liegt vielleicht eine Verbesserungsmöglichkeit für die nächste Auflage. Erfreulich ist, dass Kerres das Für und Wider nicht nur am grünen Tisch abwägt, sondem auf unzählige Studien zugreift und diese sogar noch kritisch einordnet. Er hütet sich vor Pauschalisierungen: Für ihn ist ein Medium nicht als solches gut oder schlecht; vielmehr lässt sich dessen Qualität nur an Hand der Kommunikationsziele beurteilen."

    Multimedia, die Integration und interaktive Nutzung von Text, Bild, Bewegtbild und Ton, wird die Zukunft der Information, des Lernens und der Unterhaltung in hohem Maße bestimmen. Um zu verstehen, warum Multimedia eine wichtige Technologie ist, wie Multimedia funktioniert und was es einem selbst bringt, muß man kein EDV-Experte sein.     Abstract
    Die elektronische Distribution auch für digitalisierte Videos und Bilder zu nutzen ist Ziel zahlreicher Überlegungen. Damit wird nicht nur die Verfügbarkeit der bislang nur über die Ausleihe vertriebenen Titel am Lernort erheblich verbessert. Die Integration von Internet, Software und digitalen Videos wird aber auch ganz neue didaktische Konzepte für das Lernen und Lehren ermöglichen. Das Potenzial wird noch einmal dadurch gesteigert, wenn zusätzlich digitale Medienmodule (Videoclips, Grafiken, Tondateien, Texte usw.) produziert und angeboten werden können.     Abstract
    Tonmaterial in Form von Audio- oder Videoaufnahmen spielt in Bereichen der Wissenschaft, die sich mit verbaler Interaktion beschäftigen, eine bedeutende Rolle. Solche Gebiete sind u,a. die Linguistik, Psychologie, Soziologie und Kriminalistik. Gegenstand der Untersuchung können dabei z.B. die Formen des sprachlichen Handelns und der Sprachvariation in Abhängigkeit von der Situation oder die Ausprägung und Entwicklung von Sprachunterschieden vor dem sozialen Hintergrund sein. Im Rahmen der Analyse eines Gesprächsverlaufs kann beispielsweise die Form der Rederechtsicherung von Interesse sein. In diesem Zusammenhang stellen sich Fragen wie z.B. "Wie bringen Gesprächsteilnehrner Gesprächsbeteiligte dazu, ihre Rede zu unterbrechen?" oder "Wie wehren Gesprächsteilnehmer Unterbrechungsversuche voll anderen Teilnehmern ab?". Denkbar ist hier u.a. nach dem Vorkommen von "ausreden lassen" zu suchen, wobei diese beiden Wörter nicht unbedingt nebeneinander auftreten müssen. Bei der Suche nach Stellen an denen ein Gesprächsteilnehmer Ansprüche oder Forderungen an einen Gesprächspartner stellt, können die flektierten Formen der Modalverben wie z.B. "müssen", "sollen" oder "dürfen" für die Anfrage wichtig sein, während Konnektiva wie "aber", "ja aber" oder "doch" auf oppositive Gesprächsabschnitte verweisen können. Näheres zur gesprächsanalytischen Methodik kann Deppermann (1999) und Brünner et al. (1999) entnommen werden. In dem Bereich der Linguistik, die den Gebrauch von gesprochener Sprache in offiziellen und privaten Situationen zum Gegenstand hat, sind u.a. auch Aussprachevarianten von großem Interesse. Von der Untersuchung der Sprachfärbungen erhofft man sich detaillierte Aussagen über die Sprechersituation und die regionale (König (1988)) und soziale Herkunft des Sprechers machen zu können. In der Kriminalistik wirken solche Ergebnisse unterstützend bei der Identifizierung von Personen

    Abstract
    Der Einsatz von Informations- und Kommunikationstechnologien (luK) ist in der Aus- und Weiterbildung weltweit auf dem Vormarsch. In den Hochschulen, aber auch in den Medien, ist die Diskussion über den 'Mythos' Virtuelle Universität voll entbrannt. Unternehmen, Verlage und Netzprovider erhoffen Geschäfte. Die Erwartungen in bezug auf den Einsatz von luKTechnologien erreichen dabei z.T. schwindelerreggende Höhen. Auch die Politik denkt darüber nach, ob durch wiederverwendbare multimediale 'Lehrkonserven' eine Entlastung bei der Finanzierung von Hochschulbudgets erreichbar ist Es stellt sich mithin die Frage nach den realen Möglichkeiten der luK-gestützten Ausbildung, insbesondere im Routinebetrieb, abseits von manch spektakulären Events. In diesem Beitrag werden die Möglichkeiten technologieunterstützten Telelernens analysiert. Der Schwerpunkt liegt dabei auf der Nutzung von "Computer Supported Cooperative Work" - Systemen (CSCW) sowie der Videokonferenztechnik. Telelernen hat viele Facetten, u.a. Einsatz von neuer luK-Technik, Analysen des Kommunikationsprozesses, Wirtschaftlichkeitsanalysen von Ausbildungsgängen, Image der Bildungseinrichtung, Didaktische und Mediendidaktische Modelle. Beim Einsatz von luK-Technologien in der Ausbildung werden verschiedene Szenarien diskutiert
