    Abstract
    Information ist ein allgegenwärtiger Begriff im Alltag, in den Wissenschaften und in der Philosophie. Heute wird er immer mehr von den Naturwissenschaften als ureigenster Gegenstand reklamiert: Er wird »naturalisiert«. Das Buch zeichnet den Weg nach, wie aus Physik und Mathematik Auffassungen entstehen, die über die Wissenschaftstheorie und die Sprachphilosophie zur Grundlage der Nachrichtentechnik und der Kybernetik werden, um schließlich bei der »Erbinformation« und anderen Naturgegenständen zu landen. So entsteht eine mißverstandene Form des Körper-Geist- Problems: Wie kommen technische Objekte, aber auch Moleküle im menschlichen Genom zu Eigenschaften, die ursprünglich der menschlichen Sprache vorbehalten waren? Dieses Buch korrigiert Mißverständnisse, weist heute übliche Ausdrucksweisen als (teilweise irrtümliche) Metaphern aus und rekonstruiert das menschliche Handeln und Sprechen als Grundlage von technischen und natürlichen Formen der Informationsverarbeitung.

    Rez.: "Neuerdings beschreibt sich die moderne Gesellschaft selbst als "Wissensgesellschaft". Wissen wird als zentrale Ressource begriffen. Vor diesem Hintergrund konstatiert Sabine Maasen in ihrem Buch "Wissenssoziologie", das in der Reihe "Einsichten. Soziologische Themen" im Transcript-Verlag erschienen ist, eine neue Aufgabe für die etwas aus der Mode gekommene Wissenssoziologie. Die Vielfalt der soziologischen Problematisierungsmöglichkeiten von Wissen zeigt die Autorin dabei anhand eines theoriegeschichtlichen Abrisses von der Tradition der Ideologiekritik bis zu den Wissenstheorien eines Foucault oder eines Luhmann. Die große Leistung dieses Buches besteht aber vor allem in der Skizzierung der Aufgabe, diese wissenssoziologischen Konzepte für den aktuellen Diskurs über die "Wissensgesellschaft" fruchtbar zu machen, der bislang gerade unter einem soziologisch defizitären Wissensbegriff leidet. Insgesamt eröffnet der Band sowohl ideengeschichtliche Perspektiven auf die Wissenssoziologie als auch systematische Perspektiven auf die "Wissensgesellschaft".     Abstract
    Charles S. Peirce (1839-1914) ist neben William James einer der Begründer des Pragmatismus und der Wegbereiter einer ebenso weitgreifenden wie radikalen Zeichentheorie. »We think only in signs«, heißt es bei ihm. Und in der Tat: Ist ein Denken denkbar, das ohne Zeichen auskäme? Ludwig Nagls Einführung macht mit den Grundbegriffen der Peirceschen Zeichentheorie bekannt und zeigt, inwiefern sein Pragmatismus, die Kategorienlehre, die Wissenschaftstheorie und die spekulative Evolutionsphilosophie auf den Begriff der Semiosis, den stetigen Prozeß der Zeichenverknüpfung, zu beziehen sind. Heute ist Peirce von aktuellem Interesse wegen seiner scharfen Opposition zum cartesianischen »Bewußtseinsparadigma«, in die ihn seine Semiotik hineintrieb, und wegen des Vermögens seiner Philosophie, spekulatives Denken zuzulassen, ohne dabei die Rolle von Logik und Experiment zu schmälern. Es ist ein Denken, das die Blockaden zu durchbrechen vermag, die die sprachanalytische Philosophie in den Köpfen errichtet hat.

    Abstract
    Das Problem der Wahrnehmung und Darstellung von Wahrheit durch die Medien führt zu vier zentralen Fragen: Wie viel Wahrheit gibt es in der Welt, über die Journalisten berichten müssen? Wie ermittelt oder recherchiert man diese Wahrheit? Wie trennt man die Spreu vom Weizen? Und wie geht man als Journalist mit dem um, was man als Wahrheit erkannt hat oder erkannt zu haben glaubt? Hier gibt es ganz offensichtlich eine Parallele zwischen Journalisten und Wissenschaftlern. Journalisten und Wissenschaftler brauchen erstens Hypothesen, zweitens geeignete Hypothesentests, drittens ein gutes Abgrenzungs-Kriterium und viertens Verfahren, um die erkannten Sachverhalte auf angemessene Weise für eine Kommunikation mit anderen zu repräsentieren, das heißt sie darzustellen. Es gibt zwei große Unterschiede zwischen Journalisten und Wissenschaftlern: Journalisten sind in der Regel auf raum-zeitlich begrenzte Aussagen aus, Wissenschaftler in der Regel auf raumzeitlich unbegrenzte Gesetze. Aber diese Unterschiede sind fließend, weil Wissenschaftler raum-zeitlich begrenzte Aussagen brauchen, um ihre All-Aussagen zu überprüfen, und Journalisten sich immer häufiger auf das Feld der allgemeinen Gesetzes-Aussagen wagen oder doch zumindest Kausalinterpretationen für soziale Phänomene anbieten. Der zweite Unterschied besteht darin, dass die Wissenschaft weitgehend professionalisiert ist (zumindest gilt dies uneingeschränkt für die Naturwissenschaften und die Medizin), was ihr relativ klare Abgrenzungs- und Güte-Kriterien beschert hat. Diese fehlen weitgehend im Journalismus.

    Abstract
    "Ich bestreite, dass wir wissen, ob wir etwas wissen oder nicht wissen; noch nicht einmal das wissen wir oder wissen es nicht; noch überhaupt, ob etwas ist oder nichts ist." So lautet die gegenüber dem Sokratischen Nicht-Wissen gesteigerte Skepsis des Metrodor von Chios, eines Schülers des Demokrit, in einem von Cicero tradierten Zitat (Diels/Kranz 1956, B1). Managen läßt sich nur, was ist und wovon wir ein Wissen haben können. Also läßt sich Wissen nicht managen. Skeptisches Wissensmanagement - ein Oxymoron? Demgegenüber steht unsere heutige gewaltige Wissens- und Informationsindustrie und die durch sie mitverursachte dritte industrielle Revolution. Die Industriegesellschaft ist zu einer Wissensindustriegesellschaft geworden. Es steht also nicht nur fest, dass wir wissen, sondern, dass wir viel wissen und wissen können. Die Frage ist nur, wie wir das Wissen und das Wissenkönnen nutzen. Der Skeptiker hat kein Kriterium um wahre von falschen Meinungen zu unterscheiden. Er enthält sich deshalb des Urteils und erreicht damit die innere Ruhe (ataraxia). Er beherrscht, so Friedo Ricken, "die Kunst, 'Erscheinungen' (phainomena) und 'Gedanken' (noumena) einander entgegenzusetzen. Er ist imstande, zu jeder Wahrnehmung eine andere zu finden, die mit der ersten nicht vereinbar ist." (Ricken 1994, 105). Paradoxerweise können wir sagen, dass der Skeptiker ein Manager des Nicht-Wissens ist. Sein Ziel ist, wie schon bei Sokrates, therapeutisch: Er will nämlich vom vorschnellen Urteil sowie vom Dünkel (oiesis) heilen und dafür letztlich, im Unterschied zur sokratischen Heilkunst, den Patienten von der Wahrheitssuche befreien (Ricken 1994, 106-107). Paradox ist auch, dass der Skeptiker zwar den Dogmatiker, der nach sicherer Erkenntnis (episteme) sucht, bekämpft, aber als Ziel seiner Lebenstechnik eine Lebensform anstrebt, bei der der Wert der 'inneren Ruhe' feststeht. Dafür muß er die Wahrheitssuche und die Suche nach Werturteilen aufgeben. Dogmatiker und Skeptiker haben aber etwas gemeinsam, sie kritisieren die Einstellung der bloßen Meinung (doxa). Skeptisches Denken, so Long, "findet sich überall da, wo die Kluft zwischen göttlichem und menschlichem Verstand betont wird." (Long 1995, Sp. 940) Der Skeptiker radikalisiert die Frage des Vertrauens in göttliches Wissen, indem er seine Skepsis auf das menschliche Wissen, sei es im Alltag (doxa) oder in der Wissenschaft (episteme), ausdehnt. Aus der Sicht des Skeptikers ist Wissensmanagement eine Technik, die etwas vorgibt, was sie nicht leisten kann. Ricken stellt das Denken von Peirce, Wittgenstein und Heidegger in die skeptische Tradition, sofern sie nämlich fundamentalistische Ansprüche der mit Descartes einsetzenden neuzeitlichen Philosophie in Frage stellen. Skeptische Argumentationsfiguren, wie die fünf Tropen des Agrippa (ca. 1. Jh. v.Chr.) - der Dissens (diaphonia), der unendliche Regreß, die Relativität des Urteilenden, die Setzung einer Hypothese und der Zirkelschluß -, finden sich teilweise heute wieder zum Beispiel in der Kritik des naiven Realismus durch das 'Münchhausen-Trilemma' eines Hans Albert (Ricken 1994, 161). Die antike Philosophie wiederum reagierte auf den Skeptizismus mit unterschiedlichen Strategien. Dazu gehören zum Beispiel die Platonische Kritik des sensualistischen Seinsbegriffs und die aristotelische Differenzierung der Wissensarten. Im Folgenden soll exemplarisch gezeigt werden, wie in der gegenwärtigen betriebswirtschaftlichen Diskussion um das Wissensmanagement klassische Fragen und Argumentationsfiguren aus den skeptischen und kritischen Traditionen der Hermeneutik und der Wissenschaftstheorie sowie aus der aristotelischen Wissenstypologie zum Ausdruck kommen.

    Abstract
    In den Arbeiten dieses Sammelbandes wird die Erkenntnistheorie des 'radikalen Konstruktivismus' anschaulich und folgerichtig entwickelt. In Untersuchungen zu Sprache und Kommunikation, zur kybernetischen Modellierung kognitiver Prozesse, zur Entwicklung des begrifflichen - besonders auch des mathematischen - Denkens von Kindern wird im einzelnen dargestellt, daß wir die Idee 'objektiver' Erkenntnis verwerfen müssen, solange wir streng empirisch und rational erkennen wollen. Alle Erkenntnis, alles Wissen stellt keine 'Entdeckung' einer unabhängig von uns existierenden Realität dar, sondern wird von uns erzeugt, 'konstruiert', und bleibt solange gültig als es uns zu (über-)leben hilft, als es 'viabel' ist. Daraus ergibt sich nicht nur eine dramatisch veränderte Sicht menschlicher Erkenntnis, menschlichen Lernens, Handelns und Zusammenlebens, sondern auch eine anspruchsvolle Ethik der individuellen (Über-)Lebensverantwortung
