    Abstract
    Werden Maschinen mit Begriffen beschrieben, die ursprünglich der Beschreibung des Menschen dienen, so liegt zunächst der Verdacht nahe, dass jene Maschinen spezifischmenschliche Fähigkeiten oder Eigenschaften besitzen. Für körperliche Fähigkeiten, die mechanisch nachgeahmt werden, hat sich in der Alltagssprache eine anthropomorphisierende Sprechweise bereits etabliert. So wird kaum in Frage gestellt, dass bestimmte Maschinen weben, backen, sich bewegen oder arbeiten können. Bei nichtkörperlichen Eigenschaften, etwa kognitiver, sozialer oder moralischer Art sieht dies jedoch anders aus. Dass mittlerweile intelligente und rechnende Maschinen im alltäglichen Sprachgebrauch Eingang gefunden haben, wäre jedoch undenkbar ohne den langjährigen Diskurs über Künstliche Intelligenz, welcher insbesondere die zweite Hälfte des vergangenen Jahrhunderts geprägt hat. In jüngster Zeit ist es der Autonomiebegriff, welcher zunehmend Verwendung zur Beschreibung neuer Technologien findet, wie etwa "autonome mobile Roboter" oder "autonome Systeme". Dem Begriff nach rekurriert die "Autonomie" jener Technologien auf eine bestimmte Art technologischen Fortschritts, die von der Fähigkeit zur Selbstgesetzgebung herrührt. Dies wirft aus philosophischer Sicht jedoch die Frage auf, wie die Selbstgesetzgebung in diesem Fall definiert ist, zumal sich der Autonomiebegriff in der Philosophie auf die politische oder moralische Selbstgesetzgebung von Menschen oder Menschengruppen beziehungsweise ihre Handlungen bezieht. Im Handbuch Robotik hingegen führt der Autor geradezu beiläufig die Bezeichnung "autonom" ein, indem er prognostiziert, dass "[.] autonome Roboter in Zukunft sogar einen Großteil der Altenbetreuung übernehmen werden."

    Abstract
    Dieses Buch geht davon aus, dass eine moderne Hermeneutik als Theorie des Verstehens im begrifflichen Rahmen der gegenwärtigen Theorie des Geistes und der Semantik rekonstruiert werden sollte. Vor diesem theoretischen Hintergrund, der in einem eigenen Kapitel näher umrissen wird, soll die Geschichte der Hermeneutik neu gelesen werden. Dabei wird deutlich, dass diese Lesart vielfach neue historische Interpretationen zu entwickeln und die wichtigsten Stationen der Geschichte der Hermeneutik theoretisch auf neue Weise zu integrieren vermag. Über die hermeneutischen Positionen hinaus, die in den bisherigen Gesamtdarstellungen auftauchen, werden auch Entwürfe diskutiert, die besonders unter geist-theoretischen Gesichtspunkten interessant sind, zum Beispiel die antike Hermeneutik, die Hermeneutik Max Webers, die Hermeneutik der logischen Empiristen und die naturalistische Hermeneutik. Vor allem aber wird belegt, dass die Geschichte der Hermeneutik teilweise zu großen Einsichten gelangt ist, an die eine moderne Hermeneutik anknüpfen kann. Das Buch wendet sich nicht nur an Spezialisten der Hermeneutik-Geschichte, sondern an alle Interessierten, denen das Schicksal der verstehenden Wissenschaften am Herzen liegt, und möchte ihnen eine Perspektive empfehlen, unter der sich der Status und die Autonomie der Geisteswissenschaften sowie ihr Bezug auf das Humane unter Heranziehung substantieller Theorien auf neue Weise würdigen lassen.

    Abstract
    Es handelt sich hier um einen aus Krankheitsgründen nicht gehaltenen und erweiterten Beitrag zu einer Podiumsdiskussion auf der diesjährigen iConference in Sheffield (März 2018), die unter dem Titel "Curating the Infosphere" den Ansatz von Luciano Floridi zu einer umfassenden philosophisch-logischen Informationswissenschaft kritisch diskutierte. Während Floridi an seinem sehr weitreichenden Konzept der PI (Philosophy of Information) auf der Basis seiner GDI (General Definition of Information) arbeitet, ist außerhalb unseres Feldes die Social Epistemology der BibliothekswissenschaftlerInnen Margeret Egan und Jesse Shera wieder in den Blick der Erkenntnistheorie geraten. Ferner ist zu beobachten, dass sich andere Wissenschaften in großem Maße des Phänomens Information bemächtigen und es in ihr Wissenschaftsgebäude einbauen. Der vorliegende Text ist ein Plädoyer, genauer hinzuschauen, worum es der Informationswissenschaft ursprünglich ging und dafür, dass sie bei dem großen transdisziplinären Projekt mitwirken sollte, das andere Wissenschaften betreiben.

    Abstract
    Eine der wesentlichen Aufgaben als Fachreferent*in ist die inhaltliche Erschließung der neuerworbenen Literatur, sowie die Begutachtung und Auswahl der neu erschienenen Werke in den jeweiligen Fachgebieten hinsichtlich der Relevanz für die eigenen Sammlungen gemäß dem Sammlungsprofil der TU Wien Bibliothek. Im Zuge der Corona-Krise wurde die herkömmliche Arbeitsweise in der Sacherschließung beeinträchtigt, und es haben sich neue Herausforderungen, aber auch Möglichkeiten ergeben. Neben der fehlenden Autopsie der Literatur leidet auch die Sichtung und Erwerbung neuer Literatur unter der physischen Abwesenheit vom Arbeitsplatz bzw. der entsprechenden technischen Infrastruktur. Auch der persönliche Austausch mit den Kolleg*innen wurde deutlich erschwert. Neben den Schwierigkeiten wurden aber auch die neuen Handlungsoptionen auf beruflicher und individueller Ebene positiv gesehen. In dem Artikel werden unsere individuellen Erfahrungen an der TU Wien Bibliothek sowie Ausblicke in die Zukunft wiedergegeben.

    Abstract
    Dieser Artikel stellt einen fiktiven, moderierten Dialog zwischen einem Informatiker, einem Philosophen und einem Psychologen dar. Diese nähern sich dem Begriff "Ontologie" an, jeder aus Sicht seiner Disziplin und mit dem Ziel, voneinander zu lernen. Der Artikel richtet sich an Laien der einzelnen Disziplinen, jedoch mit wissenschaftlichem Hintergrund. Die Autoren des Artikels kommen aus den Bereichen Informatik, Knowledge Engineering, Ingenieurwissenschaften, Mathematik, Neurobiologie/Neuroinformatik, Philosophie und Psychologie. Sie sind Teilnehmer einer Serie von bislang fünf Workshops zum Thema "Der Ontologiebegriff in verschiedenen Disziplinen", die seit Anfang 2010 an der Hochschule Darmstadt durchgeführt werden. Die Workshopteilnehmer stellten sich der Frage, wie der Begriff in den unterschiedlichen Disziplinen verwendet wird - gleich, als Metapher oder mit grundverschiedenen Bedeutungen. Dieser Artikel ist ein Kondensat von ausgewählten Workshopergebnissen - entsprechend der Interdisziplinarität des Themas in einer für alle verständlichen Sprache verfasst.

    Dazu ein Leserbrief von Bernd Wegner: "aufgrund meiner jahrelangen Beschäftigung mit Mathematik-Information und meiner Kenntnis des aktuellen Angebots von zbMATH sehe ich mich gezwungen, einige Dinge richtig zustellen. Der Artikel beginnt mit einem Zitat von Professor Dr. Dr. h.c. Gert-Martin Greuel: "Bibliographische Informationsdienste in der Mathematik können nicht länger nur Metadaten-Repositorien sein..." In keiner Phase war dieser Mathematik-Informationsdienst, der von mir von 1974 bis 2011 geleitet wurde, "nur ein Metadaten-Repositorium". Bis in die 70er Jahre war das Zentralblatt ein gedruckter Literaturdokumentationsdienst für die Mathematik. Publiziert wurden Rezensionen von international anerkannten Experten, die natürlich durch die entsprechenden bibliographischen Daten und den Zugang zu den Rezensionen vereinfachende Registerbände ergänzt wurden. Mit der Integration in das FIZ Karlsruhe begann das Angebot vom Zentralblatt als relationale Datenbank mit allen Recherche-Möglichkeiten, die mit dem damaligen Stand der Technik möglich waren. Mit der fortschreitenden Entwicklung von Computern wurde dieses Angebot erweitert und technisch modernisiert. Es entstand ein eigenes Produktionssystem für die Mathematik-Datenbank in Kombination mit einer exzellenten Recherche-Software, verteilte Inputsysteme wurden eingerichtet und der Zugang durch internationale Spiegel der Datenbank verbessert. Der gleichzeitig stattfindende Wechsel von gedruckten zu elektronischen Publikationen führte zu einer ständig wachsenden Verlinkung der Datenbank mit elektronischen Angeboten bei Verlegern und Bibliotheken und einer Verlinkung der elektronischen Dokumente untereinander über deren Bibliographien."     Abstract
    Einer der größten Mathematiker der Gegenwart findet in einer eigenen Arbeit einen Fehler - und stürzt sich in ein Projekt mit dem Ziel, das Beweisen gänzlich dem Computer anzuvertrauen. Dazu muss er nichts weniger als die Grundlagen der Mathematik neu fassen.     Ordnung muss sein. Beim Baden bitteschön streng nach Geschlechtern getrennt, doch in der Wissenschaft zählt nur, was auf der Tafel steht. Jedenfalls für den Mathematiker David Hilbert, der seine brillante Kollegin Emmy Noether in Göttingen als Professorin durchsetzen wollte. Doch nicht nur damit war er seiner Zeit voraus (der Antrag wurde natürlich abgelehnt) - Hilbert hatte für die moderne Naturwissenschaft etwas denselben Stellenwert wie Pablo Picasso für die moderne Kunst. In Göttingen gaben sich bei diesem merkwürdigen Genie die bedeutendsten Köpfe die Klinke in die Hand: Einstein, Bohr, Heisenberg, Gödels Sätze über die Unvollständigkeit der Mathematik und Alan Turings Weg zur universellen Rechenmaschine - alles lässt sich hierher zurückverfolgen

    Abstract
    Die traditionellen Informationsdienste in den Wissenschaften stehen angesichts der Publikationsflut und der Entwicklung der elektronischen Medien gerade auch in der Mathematik vor großen Herausforderungen. Es müssen neue Konzepte für eine erweiterte qualitativ hochwertige Erschließung entwickelt werden, die weitgehend automatisierbar sind. In dem Beitrag werden die Konzepte zur Texterschließung in der Mathematik analysiert und Methoden entwickelt, die neue Möglichkeiten für das Retrieval eröffnen. Der Beitrag schließt mit einem Ausblick auf die Möglichkeiten zur Formel-Analyse.

    Abstract
    Diskussionen um Datennetze und Informationstechnik drehen sich häufig um kompetentes Handeln. In der Publikation werden Voraussetzungen eines autonomen informationellen Handelns gezeigt: Abstrahieren, Analogien bilden, Plausibilitäten beachten, Schlussfolgern und kreativ sein. Informationelle Kompetenz ist gelebte Informationelle Autonomie. Es lassen sich Konsequenzen für ein zukünftiges Menschenbild in informationstechnischen Umgebungen ziehen.
