- Abstract
- Bei der Pilotstudie DB-Thesaurus ging es um die Untersuchung der Art und Form der von der Deutschen Bibliothek für ihre Inhaltserschließung verwendeten Schlagwörter und ihre Eignung als Elemente eines allgemeinen Thesaurus für Bibliotheken. Der Abschlußbericht (Arbeits- und Ergebnisbericht) beantwortet die in der Ausschreibung ausgesprochenen Fragen bezgl. der Möglichkeiten und Grundprinzipien eines solchen Thesaurus der DB-Schlagwörter, insbesondere auch seiner Struktur (Umfassung der Fachgebeiete, Anzahl der Hauptgruppen, Erschließungstiefe), seiner Relationsarten (begriffliche und terminologische), der Möglichkeiten der Wortschatzbegrenzung, der Behandlung von Eigennamen und der Möglichkeiten der Terminologiekontrolle. Die Untersuchung ergab, daß sich die SW der DB als Thesauruselemente eignen, daß diese aber um viele Begriffe ergänzt werden müssen, die teilweise aus dem Schatz der DB-Verweisungen gewonnen werden könnten, wenn man einen systematisch angelegten, allgemeinen Thesaurus auf dieser Basis erstellen will. Unter den Anlagen befindet sich als Beispiel dafür, daß DB-Schlag- und Verweisungswörter zur Thesauruserstellung herangezogen werden können, ein sog. Sportthesaurus, der nur durch einige fehlende Oberbegriffe ergänzt wurde. Der gesamte systematische Teil ist im alphabetischen Teil enthalten. Auf die Unterscheidung der Abstraktionsrelation von der Bestandsrelation wurde auch im alphabetischen Teil besonderer Wert gelegt

- Im Jahre 1978/79 wurde bei der Deutschen Bibliothek eine Pilotstudie durchgeführt, in der die zur Indexierung der in der Reihe A der Deutschen Bibliographie ("Wöchentliches Verzeichnis") verwendeten Schlagwörter auf ihre Brauchbarkeit als Deskriptoren eines Allgemeinen Thesaurus für Bibliotheken untersucht werden. Es sollten die Grundprinzipien eines solchen Thesaurus darsgestellt, und seine Struktur (Fachgebiete, Anzahl der Hauptgruppen, Erschließungstiefe), die Möglichkeiten der Wortschatzbegrenzung, die Behandlung der Eigennamen und die Möglichkeiten der Terminologiekontrolle untersucht werden. Es zeigte sich, daß sich die Schlagwörter der DB sehr wohl als Thesauruselemente eignen, daß sie aber um viele Begriffe ergänzt werden müssen, um den Zusammenhang der Hierarchieebenen herzustellen

- Abstract
- Die Vorteile internationaler Verbundsysteme werden durch Schwierigkeiten bei der Inhaltserschließung gefährdet. Abweichungen des tatsächlichen Selektionsergebnisses vom gewünschten Selektionsziel sind sprachlich bedingt; sie werden insbesondere durch Polysemie, Kontextabhängigkeit und syntaktische Ambiguität verursacht. Unter mehrsprachigen Bedingungen verschlechtert sich die Selektivität; es entstehen sprachabhängig unterschiedliche Selektionsergebnisse. Verbesserung ist nur bei Schaffung und sachgerechter Anwendung eines solchen multilingualen Thesaurus zu erreichen, der größtmögliche semantische Isomorphie (klare und übereinstimmende Begriffsabgrenzung) zwischen den Vokabularen und exakte semantische Äquivalenz zwischen den Deskriptoren gewährleistet. Dies erfordert hohe Aufwendungen, ist aber wichtiger als die Speicherung großer Mengen schlecht selektierbarer Dokumentationseinheiten

- Abstract
- Im Zuge des Aufbaus des DV-gestützten Verbundes der Bibliotheken der obersten Bundesbehörden in Bonn wurde auch der Thesaurus des Bibliothek des Deutschen Bundestages auf DV übernommen. Diese Automatisierung wurde zum Anlaß genommen, den Thesaurus im Lichte des neuesten Standes der nationalen und internationalen Normung zu überarbeiten. Dabei zeigte es sich, daß die Thesaurusnormung, wie sie in den genannten Normen zum Ausdruck kommt, Lücken in bezug auf die Bedürfnisse eines sozialwissenschaftlichen Thesaurus aufweist. - Abstract
- Bericht über die Ergebnisse einer von der Kommission der Europäischen Gemeinschaften in Brüssel vom 11.12.3.86 organisierten Konferenz. Als Ausgangspunkte dienten Folgerungen aus einer umfassenden Analyse von fast 1.000 Thesauri, dahingehemd, daß 'too many thesauri hampered by inadequate design, inappropriate exploitation, sometimes even non-use, insufficient maintenance, and inadequate development and updating software'. Die Ziele der Konferenz waren: (1) Set up an inventory of problems encountered in compiling, using, and managing a thesaurus; (2) Measure the impact of these problems on the effectiveness of information retrieval; (3) Make recommendations in order to solve these problems or avoid their occurrence
