    Abstract
    In dem Beitrag wird ein knapper Überblick über verschiedene Projekte deutscher wissenschaftlicher Bibliotheken gegeben, welche mit unterschiedlichen Zielen und Konzepten zum Aufbau digitaler Bibliotheken beitragen. Es werden dabei 3 Bereiche unterschieden: Der Aufbau von Zugangssystemen zu elektronischen Fachinformationen, elektronische Dokumentlieferdienste und digital Dokumente im engeren Sinne. Erschließungssysteme für elektronische Fachinformationen werden in folgenden Projekten entwickelt: SSG-Fachinformation der SUB Göttingen, IBIS der UB Bielefeld und Gerhard des BIS Oldenburg. An elektronischen Dokumentlieferdiensten werden thematisiert: Das Online-Fernleihsystem des GBV, JASOB-NRW, TIBQUICK 2000 der TIB/UB Hannover und OMNIS/Myriad. Retrodigitalisierung gedruckter Dokumente wird im Rahmen der 'Verteilten digitalen Forschungsbibliothek' durchgeführt, während im WebDOC-Projekt ein umfassendes Konzept für die Administration elektronischer Dokumente durch Bibliotheken entwickelt wurde. Ein vergleichbares Konzept wird im Projekt MEDOC für den Bereich der Informatik erarbeitet

    Abstract
    "Die mit dem Internet und WWW verbundenen Möglichkeiten zur Informationsvermittlung wurden in jüngster Zeit von Bibliotheken erkannt. Dies führte dazu, daß viele Bibliotheken bereits zumindest einen OPAC über das Internet anbieten. Zukünftige Aktivitäten werden aber dahin gehen, daß auch digitale Dokumente oder Internetressourcen, d.h. Informationen über Dokumente im Intennet, die nicht zum Bibliotheksbestand gehören, von Bibliotheken angeboten werden. Da diese Entwicklungen die definierenden Eigenschaften einer Bibliothek verändern, hat sich zur Abgrenzung von 'klassischen' Bibliotheken der Begriff 'virtuelle' oder 'digitale' Bibliothek etabliert. Neben der Informationsvermittlung dienen klassische Bibliotheken jedoch auch als Kommunikationszentren, in denen man Studien- und Fachkollegen zum gemeinsamen Arbeiten trifft. Vor diesem Hintergrund wird es für die Akzeptanz vitueller Bibliotheken von großer Bedeutung sein, daß auch sie geeignete Kommunikationsdienste für ihre unterschiedlichen Nutzertypen anbieten

    Abstract
    Die intellektuelle Erschließung des Internet befindet sich in einer Krise. Yahoo und andere Dienste können mit dem Wachstum des Web nicht mithalten. GERHARD ist derzeit weltweit der einzige Such- und Navigationsdienst, der die mit einem Roboter gesammelten Internetressourcen mit computerlinguistischen und statistischen Verfahren auch automatisch vollständig klassifiziert. Weit über eine Million HTML-Dokumente von wissenschaftlich relevanten Servern in Deutschland können wie bei anderen Suchmaschinen in der Datenbank gesucht, aber auch über die Navigation in der dreisprachigen Universalen Dezimalklassifikation (ETH-Bibliothek Zürich) recherchiert werden

    Abstract
    Ziel des Socio-Guide Projektes am Informationszentrum Sozialwissenschaften war die prototypische Entwicklung eines Fachinformationssystems für den Nachweis sozialwissenschaftlich relevanter Dokumente im World-Wide-Web. Es wurde eine datenbankbasierte Anwendung mit WWW-Interface erstellt, die dem Besucher sowohl das Browsen, als auch die gezielte Suche in den intellektuell kategorisierten Beständen erlaubt. Besonderes Augenmerk wurde auf Werkzeuge zur Aktualisierung und Wartung der Datenbestände gelegt, da die referenzierten Dokumente im Intemet sich ständig ändern können. Weiterhin wurden Workflow-Konzepte eingearbeitet, um die verteilte Bearbeitung und Verwaltung der Datenbestände durch verschiedene Mitarbeiter und externe Zuarbeiter zu ermöglichen
