Abstract

In order to decide whether rapid developments in CD-ROM help the end user, the problem is considered on 2 levels. Defines CD-ROM and describes its capabilities, limitations and relevant organisational and financial aspects. Some information users can use only conventional retrieval methods, others can cope with a variety of systems. By defining user types, shows for whom CD-ROM is helpful. Manufactures are trying to improve the user-friendliness of their products.
