Abstract
Ein echter Klassiker überlebt jeden Trend - das hat sich in den vergangenen 20 Jahren beim Thema Papier eindrucksvoll gezeigt. Der Einsatz elektronischer Medien nimmt zwar in der täglichen Kommunikation ständig zu, aber der Papierberg wächst fleißig mit. Ob Rechnungen, Service-Meldungen, Kontoauszüge, Anträge oder Tagespost - es wird gedruckt, was Rechenzentren und Printshops hergeben. Und das, obwohl gerade bei Massendokumenten meist alle nötigen Daten in elektronischer Form vorliegen. Die Ausgabe auf Papier hat eine Reihe von Gründen. Erstens ist das Vertrauen in ein Schriftstück bei vielen Menschen einfach immer noch weitaus größer als das in ein elektronisches Dokument. Zweitens haben nach wie vor längst nicht alle Bundesbürger einen Computer oder gar einen Netzanschluß. Drittens sind die rechtlichen Grundlagen für die Gültigkeit elektronisch übermittelter Dokumente noch nicht abschließend vom Gesetzgeber geregelt. Erst für Anfang 2002 ist eine Klärung der Rechtslage geplant. Der vierte - und häufig wichtigste - Grund sind schließlich die Arbeitsweisen in den Unternehmen: Die Ausgabe als gedrucktes Dokument war und ist gerade bei Massendokumenten oft als letzter Schritt in die Prozesse integriert
