Abstract
Die Erfahrungen im E-Learning zeigen, dass die persönliche Betreuung von Lernenden entscheidend für medienvermitteltes Training ist. In den 70er Jahren erhofften sich Weiterbildungsexperten, das Lernen durch die Entwicklung von »Lehrmaschinen« effizienter gestalten zu können. Viel Geld und Aufwand wurde deshalb in Computer-Based-Trainings (CBT) investiert. Dabei handelte es sich zumeist um Selbstlernprogramme ohne Kontakt zu Mitlernenden oder einem Tutor. Doch die Zahl potenzieller Autodidakten lag schon immer im einstelligen Prozentbereich. Die Mehrheit der Lernenden dagegen erfährt die Wissenserweiterung in erster Linie als sozialen und kommunikativen Prozess. Dementsprechend bietet das Online-Lernen mit vernetzten Computern große Vorteile: in der Kommunikation und der gemeinsamen Arbeit an Projekten und bei der Lösung von Aufgaben und Problemen. Die heutigen Lernszenarien setzen auf einen Mix aus Flexibilität und Selbstbestimmung, aber sie strukturieren auch, leiten an und unterstützen. Dabei kommt den Tutoren die entscheidende Funktion bei der Umsetzung didaktischer Konzepte zu. Keineswegs werden Trainer durch E-Learning - wie anfangs vermutet - überflüssig. Ganz im Gegenteil: Online- oder ETutoren gewährleisten die angemessene Betreuung und Begleitung von Online-Lernenden. Dazu müssen E-Trainer nicht nur bestens mit den neuen Informations- und Kommunikationstechnologien vertraut sein, sondern sie müssen auch die vielfältigen didaktischen Besonderheiten und Möglichkeiten des virtuellen Lernraums nutzen und zum Vorteil der Lernenden einzusetzen wissen.
