Describes the rationale behind the construction of an interactive file retrieval system for numeric data, specifically in the agricultural, biological and social sciences fields. Presents details of the creation of the system (project team, project phases, data preparation, software, and hardware used). Major findings includes comments on data problem resolution, database design and construction, interface considerations, enhanced cataloguing, file transfer, standards adherence, and staff resources.
