    "E-LIS (http://eprints.rclis.org/) ist ein internationales Open-Access-Archiv für die Bibliotheks- und Informationswissenschaft sowie verwandte Anwendungsgebiete. Es will die Kommunikation innerhalb der Community fördern und für eine rasche Verbreitung von Forschungsergebnissen sorgen. E-LIS hält sich an die Ziele des Eprint Movement und des Free Scholarship Movement. Das Archiv wird durch "Selbst-Archivierung" aufgebaut, d.h. jeder Autor kann seine Texte selbst ins System einstellen. Bisher sind bereits über 1.000 Publikationen verfügbar. Allerdings sind bisher nur wenige Texte aus dem deutschsprachigen Raum vorhanden. Alle Autoren wissenschaftlicher Texte aus dem LIS-Bereich sind deshalb aufgerufen, ihre E-Prints in E-LIS verfügbar zu machen. Die Vorteile liegen auf der Hand: - Die Texte werden dauerhaft elektronisch verfügbar gemacht. Es besteht ein einheitlicher und einfacher Zugriff auf die Texte. - Die elektronische Verfügbarkeit erhöht die Verbreitung und damit die Wirkung der Forschungsarbeiten. Um einen Text in das System einzustellen, muss man sich einmalig auf der Website anmelden (http://eprints.rclis.org/perl/ register). E-LIS basiert allein auf ehrenamtlicher Arbeit und verfolgt keine kommerziellen Ziele. Für Fragen des Copyrights wurde eine eigene Seite eingerichtet (http:// eprints.rclis.org/copyright.html), ebenso zur Submission Policy (http://eprints.rclis. org/policy.html).     Abstract
    An der Universitätsbibliothek der Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien wurden im Rahmen einer Lizenzierungsentscheidung die Datenbanken ABI/Inform Proquest und EBSCO Business Source Premier verglichen. Neben den Ergebnissen wird ein Konzept vorgestellt, wie in der Praxis ein Vergleich zwischen Aggregatordatenbanken bezogen auf den eigenen Bibliotheksbestand durchgeführt werden kann. Ausgehend von einer Beschreibung der Besonderheiten von Aggregatordatenbanken (z.B. Embargos) werden sowohl quantitative (Vergleich der Titellisten, Volltextverfügbarkeit) als auch qualitative (peer-reviewed, Rankings, Indexierung und Abstracting) inhaltliche Kriterien für die Evaluation angeführt. Neben der inhaltlichen Bewertung wurden die Usability der Datenbankoberfläche (v a. Suchmöglichkeiten), das Nutzungsverhalten sowie die Bedürfnisse der Benutzer untersucht. Vor allem bei quantitativen Kriterien schneidet EBSCO Business Source Premier besser ab als ABI/Inform Pro0uest jedoch kann - die budgetären Möglichkeiten vorausgesetzt - aufgrund der mitunter geringen inhaltlichen Überschneidung für eine Lizenzierung beider Datenbanken argumentiert werden.

    Abstract
    Der vollständige Projektname von Renardus lautet "Academic Subject Gateway Service Europe". Renardus wird von der Europäischen Union im 5. Rahmenprogramm mit dem Schwerpunktthema "Information Society Technologies" im zweiten Thematischen Programm "Benutzerfreundliche Informationsgesellschaft" ('Promoting a User-friendly Information Society') gefördert. Die Projektlaufzeit ist von Januar 2000 bis Juni 2002. Insgesamt zwölf Partner (Principal und Assistant Contractors) aus Finnland, Dänemark, Schweden, Großbritannien, den Niederlanden, Frankreich und Deutschland beteiligen sich an diesem Projekt. Die Europäische Union unterstützt das Projekt mit 1,7 Mio. EURO, die Gesamtkosten belaufen sich inklusive der Eigenbeteiligungen der Partner auf 2,3 Mio. EURO. Das Ziel des Projektes Renardus ist es, über eine Schnittstelle Zugriff auf verteilte Sammlungen von "High Quality" Internet Ressourcen in Europa zu ermöglichen. Diese Schnittstelle wird über den Renardus Broker realisiert, der das "Cross-Searchen" und "Cross-Browsen" über verteilte "Quality-Controlled Subject Gateways" ermöglicht. Ein weiteres Ziel von Renardus ist es, Möglichkeiten von "metadata sharing" zu evaluieren und in kleinen Experimenten zwischen z. B. Subject Gateways und Nationalbibliothek zu testen bzw. zu realisieren
