    Abstract
The special collection scheme (SSG) was established in 1956 and developed parallel to the North Rhine-Westphalian union Catalogue. In 1960 the first printed alphabetical current catalogue of SSG literature was produced, listing 3.500 titles but not including all participating libraries. The range of the catalogue increased over the next 10 years; it is considered successful since statistics showed increased loans of listed material. Despite larger numbers of colleges and universities in North-Rhine Westphalia, SSG and its catalogues should survive: SSG allows small libraries to participyte aid. SSG has contributed to library development in North-Rhine Westphalia

    Abstract
Over the last decade, networks such as the Western Library Network (WLN have faced an ever-growing number of challenges to their viability. These include rising telecommunications costs and increasing local processing power. WLN has responded to these challenges in several ways. WLN will continue to offer a high quality, centrally maintained database, with special emphasis on providing an accurate linked authority file. To further promote this goal, a Cataloging/Inputting Service and Sample Review program for original cataloging input by members have been implemented. Service area restrictions have been removed to encourage use of WLN throughout the West and beyond. Finally, WLN has developed Lasercat, a CD-ROM based catalog containing over one half the WLN database.

    Abstract
The database of the Research Libraries Group's Research Libraries Information Network contains some 25 million records in all USMARC formats for bibliographic and authorities data, as well as a number of additional files for specialized data. These records include source data from the Library of Congress and other national bibliographic agencies, and records contributed by RLG member institutions, and are used both for technical processing and in support of RLG's cooperative programs. Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Cyrillic vernacular records are included in the central database; work on Hebrew is in progress. Future developments will result in the addition of diverse kinds of data, including nonbibliographic data, to RLIN.

    Abstract
National bibliographies have been identified as a crucial resource for historical research on the publishing landscape, but using them requires addressing challenges of data quality, completeness, and interpretation. We call this approach bibliographic data science. In this article, we briefly assess the development of book formats and the vernacularization process in early modern Europe. The work undertaken paves the way for more extensive integration of library catalogs to map the history of the book.

    Abstract
National bibliographies provide interesting opportunities to search for new publications in specific scientific disciplines. This article gives an overview about the bibliographic potential of National Bibliographies in the German-speaking countries for spatial planning both in research and practice. Because grey literature plays an important role in technical disciplines, a national bibliography is a worthwhile source for information retrieval. Furthermore, this article includes a lightweight python-script to parse the bibliographic information from literature relevant to spatial planning and to measure the importance of grey literature using the SRU-API of the German National Library.

    Abstract
Titelsätze an WorldCat geliefert.
