    Abstract
    Das Wissen über die Farbe eines Gegenstandes wird. offenbar an einer anderen Stelle des Gehirns verarbeitet und gespeichert als Informationen zu seinem Verwendungszweck oder seiner äußeren Form. Zu diesem Ergebnis kommt eine Arbeitsgruppe um den US-Neurologen Alfonso Caramazza von der Harvard-Universität in Cambridge (US-Staat Massachusetts). Einige Patienten scheinen nach Schlaganfällen beispielsweise ihr Wissen über Werkzeuge verloren zu haben, während sie sich an Tiere noch erinnern. Dies legt den Schluss nahe, dass das beim Schlaganfall abgetötete Hirnareal das Wissen über Werkzeuge beherbergte. Die Gruppe um Caramazza beschreibt nun im Wissenschaftsmagazin Nature Neuroscience (Bd. 4, Nr. 6, S. 662) eine Patientin, die viel Wissen über die Farbe von Objekten verloren hat, sich an andere Informationen über diese Gegenstände aber noch erinnert. Die Frau beantwortete Fragen wie" Was hat Beine: eine Katze oder eine Forelle?« oder" Was ist kürzer: ein Schwein oder ein Pferd?" genauso gut wie eine gesunde Person. Wurde sie hingegen gefragt: Was ist rot: eine Tomate oder eine Mandarine?" oderJann ein Kanarienvogel gelb sein?", waren deutlich mehr falsche Antworten die Folge. Die beobachteten Defizite beschränkten sich aber auf die Objektfarbe. Die Patientin hatte einen Ausfall im seitlich gelegenen Lappen der linken Großhirnrinde, berichten die Forscher: Die betroffene Region enthalte daher vermutlich Informationen über die Farbe. Die Frau erkannte und beschrieb jedoch die Farben solcher Objekte korrekt, die ihr während der Studie von dem Team gezeigt wurden. Erkennen und Verarbeiten der Farben waren also nicht beeinträchtigt
