- Abstract
- Wenn im Zusammenhang mit nationalbibliographischen Dienstleistungen über Sacherschließung gesprochen wurde, stand in der Bundesrepublik und den deutschsprachigen Ländern generell lange Zeit die verbale Erschließung mit RSWK im Mittelpunkt. Auf regionaler Ebene haben Klassifikationen zwar eine wichtige Rolle gespielt, die Verbreitung der Regensburger Verbundklassifikation im süddeutschen Raum und in den neuen Bundesländern und die Übernahme der Basisklassifikation im Einflussbereich des Gemeinsamen Bibliotheksverbundes hatten aber keinerlei Auswirkungen auf die Struktur der Deutschen Nationalbibliographie mit ihren seit 1982 weitgehend unverändert gebliebenen 65 Sachgruppen. Nach der Vorlage des Gutachtens Klassifikationen in wissenschaftlichen Bibliotheken , in dem im Hinblick auf den internationalen Datenaustausch und die Übernahme von angloamerikanischen Fremddaten für die Nationalbibliographie die Einführung der Dewey Decimal Classification empfohlen wurde, ist die DDC mit allen ihren Vorteilen und Defiziten diskutiert worden und in der Anfang 2000 publizierten Machbarkeitsstudie auch unter dem Aspekt einer Neustrukturierung de Wöchentlichen Verzeichnisses untersucht worden. Die in der Schweizerischen Landesbibliothek Bern angelaufenen Vorbereitungen für eine Gliederung de Schweizer Buches nach DDC ab 2001 haben diesen Überlegungen, die im Folgenden dargestellt werden sollen, zusätzliche Aktualität verliehen, denn eine völlig unterschiedliche Anordnung der Grundstufen in den Nationalbibliographien der drei Nachbarländer Deutschland, Österreich und Schweiz ist auf längere Sicht nicht förderlich für Zusammenarbeit und Austausch

- Abstract
- Das in dieser Zeitschrift bereits vorgestellte Multisuchsystem E-Connect hat mittlerweile einige äußere und innere Anderungen und Erweiterungen erfahren. Abbildung 1 zeigt das Suchformular für die Suche in mehreren allgemeinen Aufsatz- und Verlagsdatenbanken. Ein entsprechendes Suchformular für die Suche nach Zeitschriftenaufsätzen mehrerer bzw. einzelner Fachgebiete ist ähnlich aufgebaut und enthält u. a. den vereinfachten Zugang zu dem fachlich den gesamten STIVI-Bereich umfassenden EnergyPortal Search und zu weiteren Datenbanken von elektronischen Aufsätzen, Reports und Preprints. Von der Startseite aus kann man jetzt auch über eine Suchmaschine sowohl die im Multisuchsystem als auch die in den Bibliographischen Datenbanken im Internet enthaltenen etwa 160 Datenbanken suchen und anwählen. Damit ist eine Art von digitaler Bibliothek entstanden, die vor allem elektronisch verfügbare Dokumente erschließt

- Vorläufer, Vorarbeiten Zwölf Jahre sind für die Arbeit an einem DFG-Projekt eine außerordentlich lange Zeit: es lässt sich allein aus dieser Dauer ablesen, dass zum einen umfangreiche finanzielle Mittel eingesetzt worden sein dürften, zum anderen aber auch, dass eine erhebliche Arbeitsaufgabe zu bewältigen war. Eine Bestandsaufnahme der Literatur des 17. Jahrhunderts galt jahrzehntelang als ein großes Desiderat des deutschen Bibliothekswesens und wurde immer wieder eingefordert. Gerhard Dünnhaupt, der das Wort vom barocken Eisberg prägte , wies mit diesem Bild eindringlich auf die große unbekannte Masse der Literatur des 17. Jahrhunderts hin. Sein Bibliographisches Handbuch der Barockliteratur, das allein 200 Personalbibliografien deutscher Autoren des 17. Jahrhunderts versammelt, lässt bereits Vielfalt und den Umfang der Texte der Zeit erkennen. Dünnhaupts Verdienste um die Erschließung der deutschen Barockliteratur sind bekanntlich außerordentlich. Der Verfasser der bislang einzigen kommentierten Bibliografie zur deutschen Barockliteratur stammt übrigens aus der Region des heutigen Bundeslandes Sachsen-Anhalt - er wurde in Bernburg als Sohn eines Köthener Buchdruckers geboren. Aber auch er konnte mit seiner Bibliografie, die mittlerweile als Standardwerk gilt und mit dem internationalen Prix Triennal de Bibliographie ausgezeichnet wurde, die Verzeichnung der Drucke des 17. Jahrhunderts nicht vollständig abbilden. Die Bibliografie hat den Focus nämlich auf literarischen Werken.

- Abstract
- Mit den Literaturnachweisen des OCLC PICA Partners - des Gemeinsamen Bibliotheksverbunds (GBV) - wird WorldCat um einen weiteren großen deutschen Datenbestand erweitert. Die entsprechende Rahmenvereinbarung zwischen der OCLC PICA GmbH und dem GBV wurde am anlässlich des OCLC PICA Partner Update Meetings in Oberhaching unterzeichnet. Nach Zustimmung durch die betroffenen Bibliotheken werden ca. 22 Mio. Titelsätze an WorldCat geliefert. Dazu gehören die Bestände der Stiftung Preußischer Kulturbesitz einschließlich Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin und aller Hochschulbibliotheken in den sieben zum GBV gehörenden Bundesländern. OCLC wird diese Daten in Absprache mit den Bibliotheken kontrolliert an Internetsuchmaschinen wie Google und Yahoo weitergeben. Damit wird neben den Titel- und Besitznachweisen der Niedersächsischen Staats- und Universitätsbibliothek Göttingen und der Bayerischen Staatsbibliothek eine weitere große deutsche Titelsammlung via Internet weltweit recherchierbar sein.
