- "6. Ergänzungslieferung der RSWK: Im Januar 2010 wurde die 6. Ergänzungslieferung der RSWK <http://www.d-nb. de/standardisierung/pdf/rswk_erg_6.pdf> veröffentlicht. Die 6. Ergänzungslieferung enthält insbesondere Änderungen an den Grundregeln in den §§ 13-15, die auf Ergebnisse der Arbeitsgruppe Strategie der Sacherschließung zurückgehen (http://www.d-nb.de/standardisierung/afs/afs_prot.htm unter "Expertengruppe Sacherschließung - Arbeitsgruppen"). Das Ziel dieser Arbeitsgruppe war u.a., Empfehlungen zu erarbeiten, um mehr Material effizient in kürzerer Zeit erschließen zu können. Auch sollten den Bedingungen des Online-Retrieval stärker Rechnung getragen werden. Deshalb wurden in den RSWK die Regeln für die Anordnung der Schlagwörter in der Schlagwortfolge vereinfacht, die Regeln zur Permutation mit intellektuell vergebenen Permutationszeichen gestrichen und die Vorgaben, wann eine oder mehrere Schlagwortfolgen gebildet werden, ebenfalls vereinfacht. Das hat zu einer einheitlicheren Anwendung der RSWK in den Verbünden geführt. Nach § 13,3a RSWK wird nun der gesamte Dokumentinhalt als ein Ahema aufgefasst und durch eine Schlagwortfolge wiedergegeben, sofern eine zusammenfassende, unmissverständliche Beschlagwortung möglich ist. Die frühere Praxis, für Aeilthemen mehrere Schlagwortfolgen zu bilden, ist als Option nach § 13,3b weiterhin möglich. Um einheitliche Retrievalergebnisse zu gewährleisten, wurde das so genannte "Pleonasmusverbot" aufgehoben; d. h. ein geografischer Bezug, der im Schlagwort bereits verankert ist, wird in der Schlagwortfolge wiederholt (§ 13,2b). Anwendung der 6. Ergänzungslieferung in der DNB: Die Deutsche Nationalbibliothek wendet ab 1. April 2010 bei der verbalen Erschließung die in der 6. Ergänzungslieferung zu den RSWK vereinbarten Änderungen an.
Im Einzelnen bedeutet dies, dass DNB die bisherige Praxis, für Teilthemen mehrere Schlagwortfolgen (früher: Schlagwortketten) zu bilden aufgibt und, soweit möglich, den Dokumentinhalt in einer Schlagwortfolge zusammenfasst (Anwendung von § 13,3a durch DNB). Ab 1. April entfallen auch die Permutationsmuster in den bibliografischen Daten der DNB. In der Schlagwortfolge werden die Schlagwörter formal nach den Indikatoren - p, g, c/k, t, s, z, f - angeordnet, es sei denn der Sinnzusammenhang erfordert eine Abweichung (vgl. § 14). Von der DNB vergebenen Schlagwortfolgen sollen künftig mehr als die bisher möglichen 6 Schlagwörter umfassen können (vgl. § 13,1 Anmerkung, üblicherweise sind bis zu 10 Schlagwörter pro Folge möglich). Die technischen Vorarbeiten im Katalogisierungssystem der DNB sind dafür aber noch nicht abgeschlossen. Alle genannten Änderungen in der Erschließungspraxis der DNB beziehen sich nur auf den Neuzugang. Von DNB bereits erschlossenes Aitelmaterial wird nicht gemäß den neuen Regeln umgearbeitet oder korrigiert. Das bezieht sich auch auf Auflagen. Neue Auflagen, die ab dem 1. April bearbeitet werden, werden nach der neuen Praxis erschlossen; die vorherigen Auflagen werden nicht rückwirkend korrigiert. Zusammenfassung der wichtigsten Punkte: 1. Pro Thema eine Schlagwortfolge (keine Parallelketten mehr); es wird in DNB § 13,3a angewandt. 2. Reihenfolge der Schlagwörter ist i. d. R. formal (p,g,c,k,t,s,z,f), es sei denn der Sinnzusammenhang erfordert etwas Anderes. 3. Keine intellektuell vergebenen Permutationsmuster mehr 4. Ein geografischer Bezug im Schlagwort wird in der Schlagwortfolge mit angegeben (vgl. § 13,2b; Wegfall des Pleonasmusverbots, als "Kibbuz-Regel" bekannt).

- "Als ich im Oktober-Heft 2001 des BIBLIOTHEKSDIENST den Beitrag von Klaus Franken "Ist Deutschland reif für die internationale Zusammenarbeit?" (S.1342-1343) überflog, dachte ich mir: "Gut gebrüllt, Löwe", denn ich konnte seine Darstellung nicht anders als eine Satire auf die Gremienarbeit im deutschen Bibliothekswesen interpretieren. Inzwischen erscheint es mir aufgrund verschiedener Signale (Zwickau und Standardisierungsausschuss!), dass das dort Vorgeschlagene ernst gemeint sein muss, dass Franken vielleicht nur "his master's voice" ist. Und deshalb will ich, wenn auch sonst zurückhaltend veranlagt, meine "direktoriale" Stimme erheben und rufen: "So bitte nicht!" Mag sein, dass Klaus Franken wie auch die an der in seinem Beitrag beschriebenen Podiumsdiskussion beteiligten "maßgeblichen und einflussreichen Bibliothekarinnen und Bibliothekare" hervorragende Kenner der Katalogisierungsprobleme sind: ich bin es nicht. Nach meiner Kurzausbildung in Frankfurt am Main (gemeinsam mit Berndt Dugall), dabei intensiv geschult im sorgfältigen Tippen von PI-Katalogaufnahmen auf Matrizen, und den sicher verdienstvollen Bemühungen von Frau Nafzger-Glöser, Frau Bouvier und Frau Miksch, mir an der Bibliotheksschule Frankfurt die theoretischen Grundkenntnisse in PI und RAK zu vermitteln (wobei mich das erfolgreiche Bestehen der Klausur primär interessierte), hat mich mein weiterer Berufsweg weit von der formalen Katalogisierung entfernt. Stationen waren eine Dozentur an der Bibliotheksschule Frankfurt mit gleichzeitigem Fachreferat, die Herstellung der Hessischen Bibliographie, die Leitung der Benutzungsabteilung der Universitätsbibliothek der Freien Universität Berlin und schließlich die Leitung dieser Einrichtung. Selbst in meinem 25-jährigen Unterricht habe ich mich nie auf die Probleme der formalen Erschließung eingelassen. Ich bin also Laie, wenn es um Katalogisierungsfragen geht, glaube aber andererseits, dass meine "Karriere" nicht untypisch für viele leitende Bibliothekarinnen und Bibliothekare ist, die Mitglieder der maßgeblichen Gremien des deutschen Bibliothekswesens sind (Joachim Stoltzenburg nannte das einmal den "Inneren Kreis"). Meine Grenzen erkennend, könnte auf mich allerdings eine Feststellung nicht zutreffen, die ich kürzlich in diesem Zusammenhang las: Eine eindeutige Befürwortung einer gravierenden Regelwerksumstellung fällt erfahrungsgemäß umso leichter, je weiter man von den praktischen Katalogisierungsproblemen entfernt ist, ... "
