- Abstract
- Viele Bibliotheken bieten heute ihre Kataloge und Datenbanken online an, vernachlässigen dabei aber den Bereich Informationsvermittlung. Das Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, die Veränderungen in der Informationsvermittlung zu analysieren und zu beschreiben, wie neue Produkte und Dienstleistungen die Bibliothekare bei der Erfüllung neuer Aufgaben unterstützen können.

- Abstract
- In der Bibliothek der Universität Konstanz werden seit eineinhalb Jahren CD-ROM-Datenbanken für Endnutzerrecherchen angeboten. Der Benutzungsstatistik zufolge werden die CD-ROM-Datenbanken häufig verwendet, und die Benutzer sind mit den Ergebnissen ihrer Recherchen überwiegend zufrieden. Eien detaillierte Analyse der Protokolle von 52 recherchen zeigt jedoch, daß die Endnutzer Schwierigkeiten mit der Systembedienung haben und ihre Suchanfragen häufig unzulänglich formulieren. Konsequenzen für die Entwicklung von Schulungsprogrammen und für die Einbindung von CD-ROM-Datenbanken in das Informationsangebot wissenschaftlicher Bibliotheken werden aufgezeigt

- Abstract
- In der Informationsgesellschaft kommen auf Bibliotheken und Spezialbibliotheken insbesondere neue Aufgaben zu. Automatisierung, Digitalisierung und Virtualisierung sind die Entwicklungsstadien, in denen die Bibliotheken die infrastrukturellen Grundlagen zur Übernahme neuer Funktionalitäten legen. Die Bibliothek wird neben den gewohnten Tätigkeiten dann auch Funktionen eines Dokumentationszentrums, eines Multimediazentrums und eines Verlages übernehmen können. Am Beispiel der Bibliothek der Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung wird die funktionale Erweiterung und Anpassung an die durch die digitale Revolution und neue Telekommunikationstechnologien geschaffenen Bedingungen geschildert.

- Abstract
- Während Informationspraxis in Forschung und Bibliothek früher vom Umgang mit Literatur dominiert war, kommen heute viele neue Werkzeuge zum Einsatz. Office-Produkte, Datenbanken und Online-Plattformen verändern den Alltag in Forschung und Bibliothek und definieren zum Teil völlig neue Felder wissenschaftlicher Informationspraxis, z. B. im Kontext der Bibliometrie, virtueller Forschungsumgebungen oder Forschungsdaten. Der vorliegende Beitrag vergleicht die aktuelle Informationspraxis in der Forschung mit den Schulungsangeboten von Bibliotheken und weist nach, dass sich Forschung und Bibliothek zum Teil voneinander entkoppelt haben und ein zusammenhängendes Angebot zur Vermittlung wissenschaftlicher Informationspraxis am Campus in Gefahr ist. Um ein solches Angebot aufzubauen, wird vorgeschlagen, dass Bibliotheken sich mit Rechenzentren und Fakultäten zusammentun und die Bibliothek als Lernraum und zentralen Ort des wissenschaftlichen Informationsmanagements weiter etablieren. Dabei sollten neue Wege zum Aufbau von Expertise in der Informationspraxis von Bibliotheken beschritten werden, etwa die direkte Beteiligung an wissenschaftlichen Projekten, die Unterstützung von Eigeninitiative des Personals oder gezielte Rekrutierungsstrategien sowie der koordinierte Austausch zwischen Bibliotheken durch Experten und Materialien zu Spezialthemen.

- Abstract
- Die für das Hochschulwesen der Schweiz zuständigen Ämter und Gremien befassen sich hauptsächlich mit den technologischen Studierende in diesem Bereich Defizite aufweisen. Ein Vorstoss der ETH-Bibliothek, die Vermittlung von Informationskompetenz ins Curriculum aufzunehmen, blieb bei der Schulleitung ohne Erfolg. Die ETH-Bibliothek plant nun den Ausbau ihres aktuellen Schulungsangebots, und sie wird sich weiterhin dafür einsetzen, dass die Vermittlung von Informationskompetenz in die Studienpläne Eingang findet.

- Abstract
- Nachdem wir 2005 an dieser Stelle unser Studienbegleitendes Ausbildungskonzept zur Vermittlung von Informationskompetenz vorgestellt hatten, das im Frühjahr 2004 zwischen Universitäts- und Landesbibliothek (ULB) und Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf abgestimmt worden war, scheint es uns an der Zeit, von dessen Umsetzung und Weiterentwicklung zu berichten. Da noch einige, vor allem kleinere Bibliotheken in diesem Bereich erst Konzepte entwickeln und noch Erfahrungen sammeln müssen und uns immer wieder Anfragen nach der Praktikabilität dieser oder jener Idee erreichen, gehen wir davon aus, dass unser Praxisbericht dazu beiträgt, die in der Umsetzung weniger weit fortgeschrittenen Bibliotheken von der Möglichkeit und Durchführbarkeit derartiger Projekte zu überzeugen und einige vielleicht auch vor falschen Erwartungen oder ineffizienten Lösungen zu bewahren. Zur Erinnerung: Das Konzept der ULB Düsseldorf wird in strategischer Partnerschaft von Hochschule und Bibliothek umgesetzt. Die Fachreferentinnen und Fachreferenten entlasten die Lehrenden durch Übernahme bestimmter Sitzungen zum Thema Informationskompetenz in Grundkursen und geeigneten Modulen wie solchen zur Methodenvermittlung oder zum wissenschaftlichen Arbeiten. Die Dozentinnen und Dozenten wiederum tragen wesentlich zur Qualitätssicherung der bibliothekarischen Angebote bei, indem sie die Veranstaltungen mitkonzipieren, aktualisieren und evaluieren. Außerdem tragen sie das in den Dozentenfortbildungen der Bibliothek erworbene Wissen im lnformationskompetenz- und IT-Bereich in weitere Lehrveranstaltungen und werden somit selbst zu Multiplikatorinnen und Multiplikatoren für informationstheoretische Inhalte. Innerhalb der Bibliothek wird personaleffizient arbeitsteilig vorgegangen, indem die Fachreferate die fachspezifischen Inhalte vermitteln, während schulungserfahrene Diplomkräfte die fachübergreifenden Sitzungen wie Einführung in die Bibliothek, Führungen, Katalogrecherche, Fernleihe etc. übernehmen. Auch die auf ein Semester angelegten Seminare der Bibliothek, die sowohl im Studium Universale und in den fachübergreifenden Wahlpflichtbereichen der Heinrich-Heine-Universität durchgeführt werden, finden in enger Kooperation zwischen den Fachreferaten untereinander und dem Team lnformationskompetenz statt.
