- The 1st International CDS/ISIS congress was organizes by the Columbian Association of CDS/ISIS users in cooperation with the Unesco regional office in Caracas, Venezuela. Reviews the programme including a detailed description of the CDS/ISIS library automation system which has 16.000 registered users and which can be run under MS-DOS, VAS/VMS, UNIX/INTEL or Windows. Written in the C++ programming language the system's main features unclude: portability; maintainability; upward compatibility; and client-server architecture implementation. Presents the text of the conference resolution

- Abstract
- The multidimensional language model, as describes in a previous paper (1998, no.2), makes it possible to define a number of concepts, including denotation and signification. Shows that the 'classical semantic triangle', which is commonly used to express denotation and signification, does not contradict the principles of the model. Concludes that the multidimensional language model is a truly universal tool reflecting accurately both semantics and syntax

- Discusses the use of the terms 'classification' and 'typology' and examines their essence and mutual relationship. Points out that these two terms are often, and quite incorrectly; used as synonyms. Argues that the difference between typology and classification can be summed up as follows: typology can be described as an analysis of characteristics of objects and subsequent determination of the individual types of the objects in question; classificatio, on the other hand, can be defined as grouping together of objects according to their type
