    Abstract
    Der Siegeszug der elektronischen Medien, insbesondere des weltumspannenden Datennetzes Internet, hat den traditionellen Informationsfluß in der Wissenschaft durcheinandergebracht. Seit Wochen wird in Deutschland auf höchster wissenschaftlicher und politischer Ebene diskutiert, was zu tun ist, um die eigene Forschung in dieser Lage international konkurrenzfähig zu halten. Auf einem Workshop in Berlin suchten jetzt vier große wissenschaftliche Fachgesellschaften zum ersten Mal gemeinsam 'neue Wege der wissenschaftlichen Information und Kommunikation'. Auch das Bundesforschungsministerium stellte Ideen dazu vor

    Vom 13. bis 16. Januar hat die Reed Midem Organisation zur 2. Milia, der Internationalen Messe für Verlage und Neue Medien, an die Côte d'Azur geladen.     Abstract
    Der Beitrag befaßt sich mit dem durch die weltweite Vernetzung hervorgerufenen Umbruch im Publikationswesen und dessen möglichen Auswirkungen auf die Bibliotheken. Eingegangen wird insbesondere auf die mit einer ungehemmten Verbreitung der Information vorhandenen Probleme der Qualitätskontrolle und der langjährigen Archivierung. Im Gegensatz zu anderen Autoren hält der Verfasser es für unwahrscheinlich, daß die Lösung der Probleme nur durch die wissenschaftlichen Gesellschaften erreicht wird. Er plädiert deshalb für ein aktiver Herangehen an die elektronischen Medien durch die wissenschaftlichen Bibliotheken, die sich im übrigen noch über einen langen Zeitraum mit dem Dualismus gedruckter und elektronischer Dienste auseinandersetzen müssen

    Abstract
    In diesem Papier soll die Rolle des FIZ Karlsruhe auf dem Gebiet des elektronischen Publizierens dartgestellt werden. Die Produktion von wissenschaftlich-technischen Datenbanken wird weitergeführt und der Online-Service STN International soll weiter ausgebaut werden. In Ergänzung hierzu werden Kooperationen mit Bibliotheken und Verlagen vereinbart, um eine umfassende Volltextversorgung für Literatur und Patente sicherzustellen. Zusätzlich wird ein Konzept für einen Electronic Information and Publishing Service erarbeitet, das folgende Komponenten umfaßt: (i) eine Volltextarchivierung der Originalmanuskripte in unveränderlicher Form, (ii) ein Online-Angebot der Volltexte und (iii) einen Editorial-Service zur Unterstützung der Verlage beim elektronischen Publizieren

    Abstract
    Das elektronische Publizieren von Informationen besitzt im Vergleich zum traditionellen Publizieren eine Reihe von Vorteilen. Neben der zeitlichen und ökonomischen Rationalisierung des Publikationsprozesses können durch Nutzung zusätzlicher Medien, wie Audio und Video, sowie die Einbindung von Interaktionsformen in die Dokumente Informationen in verbesserter Qualität vermittelt werden. Für die im Publikationsprozeß involvierten Personengruppen erfordert die elektronische Publikation jedoch eine Umstellung ihrer Arbeitsweise. Speziell für die Autoren ist sowohl ein konzeptionelles (hinsichtlich Aufbereitung und Präsentation der Informationen), als auch technisches Umdenken (hinsichtlich der Nutzung spezieller Softwarewerkzeuge zum Umgang mit den neuen Medien) erforderlich. Ausführungen analysieren die veränderte Arbeitsweise von Autoren und stellen existierende Entwicklungsumgebungen zur Erstellung interaktiver multimedialer Dokumente vor

    Abstract
    Die Potentiale des Elektronischen Publizierens werden gegenwärtig vor allem am Beispiel wissenschaftlicher Fachzeitschriften diskutiert. Informationsspezialisten in der Wissenschaft, im Verlags- und im Bibliothekswesen beschäftigen sich mit den Möglichkeiten, Zeitschriften über Telekommunikationsnetze oder auf CD-ROM bereitzustellen. Fachgesellschaften, Verlage, aber auch einzelne Wissenschaftler bringen eine zunehmende Anzahl elektronischer Fachzeitschriften auf den Markt. Vor diesem Hintergrund gibt der vorliegende Beitrag einen Überblick über die Entwicklung und den Stand elektronischer wissenschaftlicher Fachzeitschriften. Die Schwerpunkte liegen hierbei auf den Funktionen wissenschaftlicher Fachzeitschriften und auf Nutzungsstudien, aus denen sich erste Erkenntnisse zu einer nutzergerechten Gestaltung der elektronischen Publikationsform ableiten lassen
