Orientierungshilfen und Wegweiser gibt es also viele, sowohl online als auch über traditionellere Medien wie dem Buch. Auch das vorliegende Werk von Anna-Katharina Weilenmann ordnet sich in diese Kategorie von Internet-Führern ein. Auf rund 200 Seiten werden Einstiege in verschiedenste Themen der Wissenschaft angeboten. Über so genannte Subject Gateways - nennen wir sie schlicht Themen-Portale - werden Wissenschaftsdisziplinen erschlossen, meist in einer kurzen, aber präzisen Beschreibung der online-Ressource. Die Bandbreite der Sachgebiete ist dementsprechend groß und orientiert sich an der Wissenschaft: - Bibliotheks- und Informationswissenschaft - Philosophie und Psychologie, Religion / Theologie - Sozialwissenschaften, Soziologie, Politik - Wirtschaft, Recht - Erziehung, Ethnologie, Sprache, Literaturwissenschaft - Mathematik, Physik, Chemie, Biologie - Technik - Medizin - Landwirtschaft, Informatik - Kunst, Architektur, Musik, Theater, Film - Sport - Geschichte Geographie, Reisen Bei der Auswahl der einzelnen Web-Quellen ließ sich die Autorin von Qualitätskriterien wie Alter der Webseite, der Zuverlässigkeit der Inhalte, der Aktualität aber auch von der Art der Trägerschaft leiten. Webseiten mit einem akademischen Hintergrund standen daher im Vordergrund, waren aber nicht ausschließlich vertreten. So finden sich auch Webseiten kommerzieller Anbieter (z.B. Scopus von Elsevier) oder auch anderer öffentlicher, nicht-akademischer Institutionen (wie der Österreichischen Nationalbibliothek mit Ariadne) im Webseiten-Verzeichnis. Rund 200 deutsch- und englischsprachige Einträge werden im Buch genauer beschrieben, mit Informationen zum Inhalt des Angebots, der Urheberschaft und Angabe möglicher Kosten. Auch weiterführende Links werden häufig angeführt. Ein einführendes Kapitel zur Informationsrecherche rundet dieses gelungene Buch ab.
Empfehlung: Das Buch eignet sich meiner Meinung nach gut als Ausgangspunkt für die Recherche in einem noch unbekannten Sachgebiet. Zum einen, weil ein Sachgebiet von recht wenigen, dafür von der Autorin gut ausgesuchten Web-Quellen eingerahmt wird. Zum anderen, weil hier von vertrauenswürdigen Webseiten ausgegangen werden kann. Man kann es auch anders sagen: dieses Buch gehört möglichst nahe an jede InternetArbeitsstation. Aufgrund der Dynamik des Themas - Links und Webseiten können recht rasch "altern" - hat dieses Buch natürlich eine fast schon natürliche Lebensdauer. Hier wäre es interessant, und das ist weniger ein Hinweis an die Autorin als vielmehr ein Wink an den Verlag, die so detailreich beschriebenen Quellen auch online zugänglich zu machen, nämlich in der Form von Bookmarks, die von den Leserlnnen auf eigene Bookmarking-Tools übernommen werden könnten. Entweder ganz einfach als Favoriten im eigenen Browser oder zu elaborierten Werkzeugen wie Rollyo, wo individuelle Suchdienste basierend auf selbst erstellten Searchrolls bedient werden könnten. - Seit seinem Erscheinen 1923 liegt dieses zum Standardwerk gewordene Handbuch von Georg Schneider zum zweiten Mal in veränderter Gestalt vor. Die von Friedrich Nestler nun völlig neu bearbeitete Ausgabe behält den Umfang der letzten, fünften Auflage von 1969 bei, nimmt aber die sehr zahlreichen Neuerscheinungen aus reichlich 6 Jahrzehnten sowie die elektronischen verzeichnisse auf und trennt sich weitgehend von älterer Literatur. Dafür sind die Kapitel übersichtlicher angeordnet, um den Stoff strukturell zu straffen, indem die allgemeinen Kataloge, die Bibliographien der Zeitschriften, der Gesellschaftsschriften, der Hochschul- und Schulschriften sowie der amtlichen und der privaten Drucke anders zugeordnet sind. Die Untergliederung folgt formalen, alphabetischen und chronologischen Merkmalen, um das Nachschlagen zu erleichtern

- Abstract
- Die Geschichte informeller, gemeinschaftlich gepflegter Online-Bibliographien sowie die zentralen Konzepte von Social-Bookmarking-Diensten (Bibliographie sozialer Netzwerke, Sacherschließung durch Social Tagging, Folksonomies als persönliche und Collabularies als gemeinschaftliche Vokabulare) werden dargestellt und diskutiert. Zur Charakterisierung der geschilderten Gesamtentwicklung wird der Begriff Metadatenrevolution eingeführt. Es werden Strategien vorgeschlagen, mit denen Bibliotheken und Informationseinrichtungen auf diese Entwicklung eingehen können.

- Die International Bibliography of Bibliographies in Library and Information Science and Related Fields gliedert sich in zwei Teile mit insgesamt 61 Sachkapiteln, die das gesamte Spektrum der Themen rund um das Bibliothekswesen abdecken. Der erste Teil "General" umfaßt neun allgemeine Themenbereiche aus dem gesamten Bibliothekswesen. Im zweiten Teil folgen 52 systematisch nach speziellen Sachgebieten geordnete Kapitel: von "Access to library resources and services" über "Children's literature" und "Micrographics, Microforms" bis zu "Use and users in library and information services". Zusätzliche geographische bzw. chronologische Gliederungskriterien bestimmen den Aufbau zahlreicher Unterkapitel. Jeder Eintrag führt zunächst die bibliographischen Angaben (Autor oder Herausgeber, Titel, Verlag, bei Aufsätzen den jeweiligen Buch- oder Zeitschriftentitel mit Seitenangabe, eventuell Reihentitel, Erscheinungsjahr, Seitenzahl) au£ Hierauf folgen erläuternde Anmerkungen, ggf. mit der englischen Übersetzung des Originaltitels, mit Hinweisen auf Parallelausgaben und andere Auflagen, eine kurze Inhaltsangabe sowie Hinweise auf Rezensionen - auch über den Berichtszeitraum der Bibliographie hinaus. Vier Register (ein Autoren-, ein Titel- und ein Sachregister sowie ein geographischer Index) bieten einen raschen Zugriff auf dieses vielschichtige und umfassende Nachschlagewerk und erleichtern die schnelle und gezielte Recherche.

- Der jetzt vorliegende erste Band der International Bibliography of Bibliographies in Library and Information Science and Related Fields weist für den Zeitraum von 1945 bis 1978 ca. 10.000 Bibliographien zum Thema Bibliotheks- und Informationswissenschaft nach. Auch verwandte Gebiete, wie beispielsweise Archivwesen, Verlagswesen, Buchhandel, Geschichte der Schrift, Buchgeschichte, Papiergeschichte, Geschichte des Buchdrucks, Buchkunst oder Urheberrecht finden Berücksichtigung. Damit ist diese Bibliographie, die in zwei Bänden mit zusammen ca. 20.000 Einträgen den gesamten Zeitraum vom Ende des Zweiten Weltkriegs bis 1990 abdeckt, die umfassendste ihrer Art. Als Quellengrundlage für den ersten Band dienten zahlreiche internationale und nationale Bibliographien, Fachbibliographien und Enzyklopädien für den Bereich der Bibliotheks- und Informationswissenschaft, themenrelevante Fachzeitschriften sowie eine bereits 1985 von Henryk Sawoniak in Polen veröffentlichte einschlägige Bibliographie. Mehr als ein Drittel der aufgenommenen Bibliographien erschien selbständig in Buchform, jeweils etwa ein Viertel in Zeitschriften oder als Teil eines Buches. Bd.2 weist für den Zeitraum 1979-1990 mehr als 10.000 Bibliographien zu den Themen Bibliotheks- und Informationswissenschaft, Buchhandel und Verlage, Reprographie, Buchkunst, Urheberrecht, Geschichte des Buches und des Drucks, des Alphabets und der Schrift, der Papierherstellung und vielen weiteren Randgebieten des Bibliothekswesens nach.

- Abstract
- Am Beispiel der Zentralbibliothek der Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH wird der Paradigmenwechsel bibliographischer Alltagsroutine zwischen 1978 und 1998 vorgestellt. Vor dem Hintergrund der veränderten Informationstechnologie der letzten 20 Jahre werden einerseits die eingesetzten Nachweisinstrumente und deren Evolution beschrieben, andererseits die Veränderungen der konkreten Arbeitsprozesse beim Bibliographieren illustriert. Dabei wird ein Spektrum abgedeckt, das von gedruckten Bibliographien und Referateblättern über Mikrofiche und Magnetbänder, Online- und CD-ROM-Datenbanken bis zum "WeltWideWeb" reicht. Wir zeigen, daß der bibliographische Arbeitsprozeß neu definiert werden muß, in seiner Grundfunktion aber nicht obsolet geworden ist

- Im Aisthesis Verlag ist der erste Teil der Bibliografie Brigitte Reimann von Kristina Stella erschienen. Die Bibliografie ist das Ergebnis der jahrelangen Recherchen Stellas in Bibliotheken und Archiven. Das umfangreiche Nachschlagewerk ermöglicht erstmalig einen vollständigen Überblick über das Werk der DDR-Schriftstellerin und dessen Rezeption. Teil A verzeichnet die Primärliteratur und enthält zahlreiche Hintergrundinformationen zu den Werken und deren unterschiedlichen Ausgaben. Der Nachweis der Originalmanuskripte und der umfangreichen Korrespondenz Brigitte Reimanns mit Privatpersonen und Institutionen bietet eine umfassende Übersicht über die in den Archiven vorhandenen Dokumente. Bühnenwerke, Rundfunksendungen, Fernsehsendungen und Veranstaltungen mit Beteiligung von Brigitte Reimann werden in Auswahl nachgewiesen.
