    Abstract
    Das Internet ist in den letzten Jahren zu einem wichtigen Faktor der Informationsindustrie geworden. Es verbindet Millionen von Menschen und Firmen auf der ganzen Welt. Gleichzeitig wird das Internet für die Verbreitung von pornographischen Inhalten mißbraucht. Online-Dienste spielen für das Wachstum des Internets eine entscheidende Rolle. Sie bieten ihren Mitgliedern neben eigenen Inhalten auch den freien Zugang zum Internet. Über 50% der Internet-Nutzer weltweit sind Mitglieder eines Online-dienstes. Mißbraucht der Nutzer einen Online-Dienst, um pädophile Inhalte zu veröffentlichen, oder lädt er pornographische Abbildungen vom Internet herunter, so stellt sich die Frage der Verantwortlichkeit der Online-Dienste als Verbreitungsmedium oder Zugangsvermittler zum Datennetz. Da Inhalte in verschiedenen Ländern eingespeist und abgerufen werden können, gilt den internationalen Lösungen besondere Aufmerksamkeit

    Image content opens up exciting possibilities for stand-alone media, distributed networks, online networks, and on-site publishing from information systems for use by the general public, for research, collection management, education and distance learning.     Abstract
    Im Zeitalter der Globalisierung sind die Menschenrechte zunehmend Eingriffen durch transnationale Unternehmen ausgesettzt. Das gilt auch für die Informationsfreiheit. Wenn Medienkonzerne immer weiter fusionieren, kann dieser Freiheit Gefahr drohen, insbesondere durch einen Verlust an Informationsvielfalt. Daß es erste Tendenzen zu einer globalen Medienkonzentration gibt, wird im empirischen Teil der Arbeit festgestellt. Davon ausgehend wird untersucht, ob die internationalen Menschenrechtsinstrumente dem einzelnen ein Recht auf Information verleihen. Wie dieses Recht im entstehenden System der Globalisierung durchzusetzen wäre, wird anhand von völker-, wirtschafts- und medienrechtlichen Regelungsansätzen aufgezeigt. Im Ergebnis sind dabei vor allem die Staaten in die Pflicht zu nehmen: sie müssen zusammenarbeiten, um ihrer Rolle als Garanten der Menschenrechte gerecht zu werden

    Abstract
    In der Dokumentationspraxis gibt es noch Unsicherheiten über die rechtliche Situation der Abstract-Erstellung. Zum einen betrifft dies die Frage, in welchem Maße Abstracts von Dritten für eigene Zwecke übernommen werden dürfen, d.h. inwieweit von Originalarbeiten eigene Abstracts erstellt werden müssen. Zum anderen braucht der Abstract-Autor selbst einen rechtlichen Schutz seiner persönlichen intellektuellen und ökonomischen Leistung, die sich im Abstract widerspiegelt. Solche Fragen werden in diesem beitrag erörtert, wobei das Hauptinteresse den Regelungen zum Urheberrecht gilt.     Abstract
    Da in den nächsten Monaten zahlreiche Institutionen und Gremien der Europäischen Union über den Richtlinienvorschlag zur Harmonisierung des Urheberrechts und der verwandten Schutzrechte in der Informationsgesellschaft beraten werden, hat eine BDB/DBI-Arbeitsgruppe das folgende Statement formuliert und - ergänzt um weitere Unterlagen - im Juli 1998 an deutsche Mitglieder des Europa-Parlaments versandt, um die Position der deutschen Bibliotheken deutlich zu machen.     Abstract
    Kern der Arbeit ist die Frage, inwieweit elektronische Printmedien urheberrechtlichen Schutz genießen und wo die Grenzen der Priveligierungstatbestände der §§ 49,53 UrhG verlaufen. Die Probleme sind aktuell, weil große Verlagshäuser ihre Produkte zunehmend offensiv of CD-ROMs oder im Internet anbieten. Die u.a. daraus resultierenden Herausforderungen an das tradierte urheberrechtliche System sind beachtlich. Auftretende Konflikte zwischen dem Schutz geistigen Eigentums und den Interessen der Allgemeinheit an einem freien Informationszugriff sucht die Arbeit durch ein Balancemodell zu lösen, das aus Art.5 GG abgeleitet wird. Anmerkungen zum flankierenden wettbewerbsrechtlichen Leistungsschutz und zum internationalen Rechtsrahmen ergänzen die Ausführungen
