    Abstract
    Die deutschen Suchmaschinen, Abacho, Acoon, Fireball und Lycos sowie die Web-Kataloge Web.de und Yahoo! werden einem Qualitätstest nach relativem Recall, Precision und Availability unterzogen. Die Methoden der Retrievaltests werden vorgestellt. Im Durchschnitt werden bei einem Cut-Off-Wert von 25 ein Recall von rund 22%, eine Precision von knapp 19% und eine Verfügbarkeit von 24% erreicht

Doch andere wollen die Besseren werden. Googles Vorsprung schmilzt, meint Stefan Karzauninkat, weil sein Wertungssystem zunehmend ausgehebelt wird: Dritte verdienen am Verkauf von Links und dem Frisieren der Ergebnislisten Geld: "Das kostet zwischen 10 und tausenden Euro im Monat, je nach Position." Google-Konkurrentenarbeiten an neuen Ideen, genauso wie Suchmaschinenpapst Sander-Beuermann. Der träumt zum Beispiel vom Durchbruch der Peer-to-PeerSuchmaschine YaCy (www.suma-lab.de/ ya cy): "Wenn es genügend Leuten beim Gedanken an eine Suchmaschinen-Supermacht ungemütlich wird, erreicht ein solches Open-Source-Modell die kritische Masse."
