Orientierungshilfen und Wegweiser gibt es also viele, sowohl online als auch über traditionellere Medien wie dem Buch. Auch das vorliegende Werk von Anna-Katharina Weilenmann ordnet sich in diese Kategorie von Internet-Führern ein. Auf rund 200 Seiten werden Einstiege in verschiedenste Themen der Wissenschaft angeboten. Über so genannte Subject Gateways - nennen wir sie schlicht Themen-Portale - werden Wissenschaftsdisziplinen erschlossen, meist in einer kurzen, aber präzisen Beschreibung der online-Ressource. Jedes Sachgebiet wird zudem um Lexika, Enzyklopädien, Bibliographien und Datenbanken ergänzt. Die Ordnung der Sachgebiete orientiert sich an der Dewey Dezimalklassifikation. Die Bandbreite der Sachgebiete ist dementsprechend groß und orientiert sich an der Wissenschaft: - Bibliotheks- und Informationswissenschaft - Philosophie und Psychologie, Religion / Theologie - Sozialwissenschaften, Soziologie, Politik - Wirtschaft, Recht - Erziehung, Ethnologie, Sprache, Literaturwissenschaft - Mathematik, Physik, Chemie, Biologie - Technik - Medizin - Landwirtschaft, Informatik - Kunst, Architektur, Musik, Theater, Film - Sport - Geschichte Geographie, Reisen Bei der Auswahl der einzelnen Web-Quellen ließ sich die Autorin von Qualitätskriterien wie Alter der Webseite, der Zuverlässigkeit der Inhalte, der Aktualität aber auch von der Art der Trägerschaft leiten. Webseiten mit einem akademischen Hintergrund standen daher im Vordergrund, waren aber nicht ausschließlich vertreten. So finden sich auch Webseiten kommerzieller Anbieter (z.B. Scopus von Elsevier) oder auch anderer öffentlicher, nicht-akademischer Institutionen (wie der Österreichischen Nationalbibliothek mit Ariadne) im Webseiten-Verzeichnis. Rund 200 deutsch- und englischsprachige Einträge werden im Buch genauer beschrieben, mit Informationen zum Inhalt des Angebots, der Urheberschaft und Angabe möglicher Kosten. Auch weiterführende Links werden häufig angeführt. Ein einführendes Kapitel zur Informationsrecherche rundet dieses gelungene Buch ab.
Empfehlung: Das Buch eignet sich meiner Meinung nach gut als Ausgangspunkt für die Recherche in einem noch unbekannten Sachgebiet. Zum einen, weil ein Sachgebiet von recht wenigen, dafür von der Autorin gut ausgesuchten Web-Quellen eingerahmt wird. Zum anderen, weil hier von vertrauenswürdigen Webseiten ausgegangen werden kann. Man kann es auch anders sagen: dieses Buch gehört möglichst nahe an jede InternetArbeitsstation. Aufgrund der Dynamik des Themas - Links und Webseiten können recht rasch "altern" - hat dieses Buch natürlich eine fast schon natürliche Lebensdauer. Hier wäre es interessant, und das ist weniger ein Hinweis an die Autorin als vielmehr ein Wink an den Verlag, die so detailreich beschriebenen Quellen auch online zugänglich zu machen, nämlich in der Form von Bookmarks, die von den Leserlnnen auf eigene Bookmarking-Tools übernommen werden könnten. Entweder ganz einfach als Favoriten im eigenen Browser oder zu elaborierten Werkzeugen wie Rollyo, wo individuelle Suchdienste basierend auf selbst erstellten Searchrolls bedient werden könnten. - Abstract
- Für die hier vorliegende Studie wurden 40 Führungspersönlichkeiten bedeutender Archive und Bibliotheken nach der zukünftigen Entwicklung der Bibliographie befragt. Die Erhebung zu dieser Studie wurde innerhalb eines Jahres zwischen 2005 und 2006 in vier Runden nach der Delphi- Technik in Deutschland, Österreich und der Schweiz durchgeführt. Durch ein Interview, das Fragen aus betrieblichen, gesellschaftlichen und wissenschaftlichen Bereichen beinhaltete, wurden Prognosen ermittelt, die in drei weiteren Befragungsrunden nochmals mittels dargestellter Szenarien hinterfragt wurden. Erkundet wurde durch diese fokussierende Untersuchung die Entwicklung der bibliographischen Information -- vom Schriftenverzeichnis zum Informationsraum -- für die germanistische Applikation. Ziel dieser Studie ist es, anhand der Prognosen von Experten zu klären, ob Bibliographien in Zeiten "Digitaler", "Elektronischer" bzw. "Virtueller Bibliotheken" auch zukünftig einem zeitgemäßen Anspruch in Hinblick auf Informationsbedarf, -nutzen und -wert genügen können und wie sich deren Zukunft gestalten wird. In Form eines Realisierungskonzepts wird im Anschluss an die Erhebungsanalyse beschrieben, wie sich den Experten zufolge bibliographische Daten in einem Prozess, hin zu mediographischen Informationen, befinden. Verdeutlicht wird die Zukunft der Bibliographien in Form von Literaturportalen bzw. Informationsräumen, die möglicherweise die Gestalt einer Mediographie oder Wikigraphie annehmen werden. Wie diese Verzeichnisse konzipiert sein sollten, wird auf Grund der Befragungsergebnisse analysiert und interpretiert und als Szenarienvarianten durch ein theoretisches Modell beschrieben.

Wie kann eine solche Erschließung für die Literatursuchenden wirklich nützlich sein? - Fragen wie diese zeigen, wie groß und wie schwer zu fassen das Konzept »Bibliographie« bisher schon immerwar. Wie viel komplexer und anspruchsvoller das Bereitstellen einer zeitgemäßen, nützlichen bibliographischen Dienstleistung im Internetzeitalter ist, hat sich der Bibliothekar Dirk Wissen in seinem Buch »Zukunft der Bibliographie - Bibliographie der Zukunft« gefragt. Es dürfte sich um eine der ersten deutschsprachigen Dissertationsschriften handeln, die explizit den Themenbereich »Bibliothek 2.0« und »Archiv 2.0« behandeln. Diese beiden Stichworte spielen auf das »Web 2.0« an, einen Begriff, mit dem der Computer-Buchverleger Tim O'Reilly 2005 eine grobe begriffliche Zusammenfassung neuerer, partizipativer Entwicklungen im Internet, wie beispielsweise das freie Online-Lexikon Wikipedia, prägte. Wissen versucht, anhand von Einschätzungen und Erwartungen der Leiter einiger bedeutender Archive, Bibliotheken und Informationseinrichtungen im deutschen Sprachraum herauszufinden, wie bibliographische Dienstleistungen der nahen Zukunft aussehen könnten. Kommerzielle Unternehmen sind dabei nur mit einer Institution vertreten, dem ekz, während traditionelle Universitätsbibliotheken recht zahlreich repräsentiert sind. Akkurat und nachvollziehbar führte der Autor über mehrere Runden Interviews mit diesem Personenkreis durch, legt den Befragten Thesen vor und lässt sie diese bewerten.
In dieser so genannten Delphi-Studie kristallisiert sich der Wunsch nach einem Web-Portal heraus, das Eigenschaften heutiger bibliographischer Datenbankangebote mit Eigenschaften des Web 2.0 ergänzt. Bis ungefähr 2015 soll den Befragungs-Ergebnissen zufolge ein von mehreren Einrichtungen als »Wikigraphie« oder »Mediographie« kooperativ betriebenes Literaturportal entstehen können. Die Betonung liegt dabei auf »können« - Wissen legt wert darauf, weder die Befragten über alternative Szenarien entscheiden zu lassen, noch eine Prognose zu treffen. Vielmehr habe sein Szenario einen >orientierendem Charakter. Das Szenario einer Mediographie stehe dabei für die Integration von bibliographischer Information und dem Vollzugriff auf die (textuellen und nicht-textuellen) Medieninhalte. Wikigraphie meint eine »Schicht« der Benutzerinteraktion eines Portals, das eine unter ökonomischen und qualitativen Aspekten wünschenswerte Anreicherung qualitätsgesicherter Stammdaten< durch Benutzer erlaubt. Nun weckt der Begriff »Portal« unweigerlich Assoziationen an Vorstellungen zentralisierter Informationsverzeichnisse im Web, wie sie in den 90er-Jahren verbreitet waren. Dem Autor der Studie kann man das nur bedingt zum Vorwurf machen. Er erfüllt lediglich die selbstgestellte Aufgabe, aus den Aussagen der deutschen Bibliotheks-Entscheiderderen Vorstellung von einer »Zukunft der Bibliographie« zu destillieren. Es überrascht kaum, dass sich diese Vorstellung vom in der Fachöffentlichkeit vorherrschenden Bild der Bibliothek 2.0 unterscheidet - denn dort wird die Bearbeitung dieses Themas gern einer ganz anderen Generation überlassen, sozusagen den »jungen Wilden« des Bibliothekswesens.
Bedauerliche Auslassungen Dennoch ist es bedauerlich, dass in den 2005 und 2006 stattgefundenen Befragungs-Runden gleich mehrere Ansätze außen vor geblieben sind, an denen sich modellhaft die Entwicklung der Bibliographie unter den Bedingungen des Web 2.0 hätte beobachten lassen. Der 2004 von Richard Cameron gegründete bibliographische Social-Bookmarking-Dienst CiteULike und seine zahlreichen Nacheiferer werden nicht erwähnt. Auch das ebenfalls 2004 entstandene WikisourceProjekt, bei dem digitalisierte Dokumente unter einer freien Lizenz veröffentlicht und von Freiwilligen beschrieben und textlich erfasst werden, findet keine Erwähnung. Und auch LibraryThing, ein 2005 entstandener Webdienst, der seine Benutzer mit großem Erfolg zur Katalogisierung, »Anreicherung« und Vernetzung ihrer privaten Buchsammlungen einlädt, fehlt leider, einschließlich aller Konkurrenzunternehmen.
Das ist deshalb bedauerlich, weil die für das Internet charakteristische Dezentralisierung der bibliographischen Informationsströme gerade durch Dienste wie CiteULike einen erheblichen Popularitäts- aber auch Forschungs- und Entwicklungsschub erfahren hat. Man betrachte nur die Flut der fachlichen Veröffentlichungen über bibliographische Social-Bookmarking-Dienste in den fachlichen Repositories DUST und E-LIS sowie in den anglophonen Fachzeitschriften seit etwa 2004. Einige mit diesen Diensten zusammenhängende Themen werden von Wissen durchaus berührt. Er findet zum Beispiel mit den Experten heraus, dass das Semantic Web Bestandteil des medio- bzw. wikigraphischen Portals sein müsse (S. 203). Aber die bloße Nennung des Semantic Web lässt nichts von den Spannungen ahnen, die es für das soziale Verhältnis von Zentrum und Peripherie der bibliographischen Information birgt, wenn die partizipativen Strukturen des Web 2.0 und das Semantic Web zusammenkommen. Web 2.0-typische Webservices kombiniert mit den Normdateien der Deutschen Nationalbibliothek würden etwa bedeuten, dass jeder, überall, auch in einem Dienst wie CiteULike, in Wikisource oder in einem eigenen Weblog, Verknüpfungen zu einem Schlagwort erzeugen kann. Ohne also abzuwarten, ob ihm im Jahr 2015 in einem zentralen Portal der traditionellen bibliographischen Diensteanbieter eine >Mitmach-Schicht< zugewiesen wird, in der er dann ein wenig miterschließen darf. Der Autor gibt in seinem Resümee zu erkennen, dass er durchaus um die Eigendynamik seines Gegenstands und die Eigenwilligkeit der Benutzer weiß (S.326f.). Ob das auch für die interviewten Sprecher dieses Delphi-Orakels der bibliographischen Zukunft gilt, muss nach der Lektüre des Buchs allerdings dahingestellt bleiben."

- Abstract
- Der folgende Aufsatz beschreibt aus technischer Sicht den Weg von der Konzeption und Vision einer modernen suchmaschinenbasierten Suchumgebung zu ihrer technologischen Umsetzung. Er nimmt den Faden, der im ersten Teil (ZfBB 51 (2004), 5/6) beschrieben wurde, unter technischen Gesichtspunkten wieder auf. - Abstract
- Werden Google, Yahoo und Microsoft die einzigen Zugänge zum weltweiten Wissen im Jahre 2010 darstellen? Der Autor setzt sich für eine konzertierte Aktion der Bibliotheken ein, um mittels »State-of-the-Art«- Suchmaschinentechnologie verlässliche, qualitativ hochwertige Suchdienste für wissenschaftliche Informationen in Forschung und Lehre aufzubauen. Die Notwendigkeit ergibt sich aus dem explosionsartigen Anwachsen wissenschaftlich relevanter Dokumente, die nicht selten ausschließlich über das Internet zugänglich sind und über derzeit verfügbare Informationsportale von Bibliotheken nicht oder nur sehr unzulänglich recherchiert werden können. Der Artikel beschreibt mögliche Wege der Kooperationen von Bibliotheken und anderen Informationsanbietern im nationalen und internationalen Kontext beim Aufbau eines offenen, verteilten wissenschaftlichen Internet-Indexes, der modular angelegt in beliebigen lokalen Umgebungen genutzt werden kann. Für die nutzerfreundliche Gestaltung des neuen Suchservices wird auf die Notwendigkeit der Berücksichtigung von etablierten, allgemeinen Internet-Suchdiensten eingegangen, die innerhalb kurzer Zeit eine hohe Popularität und Nutzerakzeptanz gewonnen haben.

- "Seit dem 8. Mai 2007 ist b2i, das zentrale Wissenschaftsportal für die Bibliotheks-, Buch- und Informationswissenschaften, online (www.b2i.de). Sein Name "b2i" fasst die Anfangsbuchstaben der beteiligten drei Wissenschaftsdisziplinen zusammen. Das Fachportal wird von der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) gefördert und kooperativ entwickelt von: - der Niedersächsischen Staats- und Universitätsbibliothek Göttingen (SUB) als zuständiger Sondersammelgebietsbibliothek (Projektleitung), - dem Informationszentrum für Informationswissenschaft und -praxis (IZ) der Fachhochschule Potsdam, - dem Fachbereich Informationswissenschaften der Fachhochschule Potsdam, - dem Kompetenznetzwerkfür Bibliotheken (KNB) beim Deutschen Bibliotheksverband Berlin - und der Buchwissenschaft der Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg. Nach dem Vorbild der virtuellen Fachbibliotheken bündelt b2i Fachinformation, Datenbanken und Bibliothekskataloge der Bibliotheks-, Buch- und Informationswissenschaften und macht sie über eine gemeinsame Oberfläche bequem und komfortabel zugänglich. Eine integrierte Metasuchfunktion ermöglicht die gleichzeitige Recherche in einer Vielzahl von Nachweisinstrumenten für gedruckte und elektronische Materialien, qualitätskontrollierten Internetressourcen und Fakteninformationen. Zum Service gehören außerdem Bestellmöglichkeiten für Monographien-, Zeitschriften- und Aufsatzliteratur sowie für elektronische Materialien, die als Datei oder Druckausgabe angefordert werden können. Damit wird b2i für Interessierte aus Wissenschaft, Studium und Praxis zu einem interdisziplinären "One-stop-shop" der Fachinformation. Auch Volltexte gehören zum Angebot von b2i. Eingebunden sind bereits jetzt der Potsdamer Volltextserver INFODATA eDepot und der GOEDOC-Dokumentenserver der SUB Göttingen. Thematisch erschlossene Nachweise auf Artikelebene bieten die informationswissenschaftliche Datenbank INFODATA und der spezifische Fachausschnitt "Informations-, Buch- und Bibliothekswesen" aus der Aufsatzdatenbank Online Contents (OLC-SSG). Für die Buch- und Bibliothekswissenschaft verbessert sich die Nachweissituation erheblich durch die Einbindung der nunmehr erstmals in elektronischer Form verfügbaren "Bibliographie zur Buch- und Bibliotheksgeschichte" (BBB) und des von Bernhard Fabian herausgegebenen "Handbuch der historischen Buchbestände", das in Form eines interaktiven Wikis kostenfrei zugänglich gemacht wird. Der "b2i Guide" enthält eine Sammlung von intellektuell erschlossenen, fachrelevanten Internetquellen, in die auch die Fachausschnitte aus der Elektronischen Zeitschriftenbibliothek (EZB) und des Datenbank-Informationssystems (DBIS) eingebunden sind. Beiträge zu aktuellen Fachthemen aus der Bibliotheksszene ergänzt das Bibliotheksportal des Kompetenznetzwerks für Bibliotheken."

- Abstract
- Vorbemerkung: zur aktuellen Problematik im Zeitschriftenwesen Derzeit kann auf einschlägigen Fachveranstaltungen und Expertlnnentagungen oftmals (großteils berechtigte) Kritik am Verlags- und Zeitschriftenwesen vernommen werden. Mitunter werden regelrechte Zeitschriftenkrisen oder gar Informationskrisen ausgerufen, um im Anschluss daran auch gleich passende Auswege aufzuzeigen. Solche Geschütze werden hier nicht aufgefahren, doch soll mit Rückgriff auf Harnad u.a. (2004) kurz ein Schlaglicht auf die existierende Problematik im Zeitschriftenwesen geworfen werden. Einerseits leiden Bibliotheken unter dem so genannten Preisproblem (journal-affordability problem), womit gemeint ist, dass es aufgrund der Preisentwicklung wissenschaftlicher Zeitschriften für Bibliotheken zunehmend schwieriger wird, diese gedruckt oder elektronisch zu erwerben. Verbunden mit knapper werdenden Ressourcen sind hier Engpässe in der Informationsversorgung unvermeidlich. Daraus resultiert eine zweite Facette dieser Problemlage, nämlich dass - aus der Autorlnnensicht - viel an potentiellem Impact aufgrund der Nichtverfügbarkeit der Forschungsliteratur ungenutzt bleibt (article-access/impact problem). Als Impact wird dabei das Ausmaß der Rezeption der Forschungsergebnisse in der Scientific Community definiert. Viel spricht dafür, dass Open Access tatsächlich als möglicher Lösungsweg für diese beiden unterschiedlichen, aber zusammenhängenden Problemlagen gesehen werden kann. In diesem Artikel wird deshalb kurz aufgezeigt, was man unter Open Access versteht; anschließend wird das Volltextarchiv E-LIS: E-Prints in Library and Information Science etwas genauervorgestellt. Wir sind nämlich der Meinung, dass BibliothekarInnen und Informationsexpertinnen Open Access nicht nur bewerben und einfordern, sondern selbst mit gutem Beispiel vorangehen und deshalb möglichst alle ihre bibliotheks- und informationswissenschaftlichen Schriften entsprechend publizieren sollten.

- Abstract
- Die räumliche Trennung von Literaturbeständen und der für die Überwindung dieser Trennung notwendige zeitliche Aufwand stellten und stellen für Bibliotheksbenutzer ein Hindernis bei der Informationsbeschaffung dar. Bibliotheken suchen deshalb seit langem nach Möglichkeiten, die ungünstigen Folgen räumlicher Verteilung von Informationsressourcen zu mindern. Die Einführung der EDV in das Bibliothekswesen eröffnete neue Perspektiven für die Verfolgung dieses Anliegens. Der Begriff der virtuellen Bibliothek, der ca. 1980 in die Diskussion um die Verbesserung von Informationsstrukturen eingeführt wurde, steht heute für unterschiedliche Modelle durch elektronische Hilfsmittel zusammengeführter verteilter Bestände bzw. Bestandsnachweise'. So existieren virtuelle Bibliotheken in regionalem Kontext, wie etwa im Fall der Digitalen Bibliothek NRW und in fachlichem Zusammenhang, wie die Virtuelle Fachbibliothek Psychologie. Auch der Leistungsumfang virtueller Bibliotheken ist unterschiedlich - er reicht von einer strukturierten Link-Liste bis zur integrierten Suche nach verschiedenen Medienformen unter einer Oberfläche. Trotz dieser Unterschiede weisen Konzepte virtueller Bibliotheken grundlegende Gemeinsamkeiten auf: Sie gehen von der Verfügbarkeit digitaler Daten aus, setzen technische Strukturen zur Vernetzung von Informationsanbietern und Benutzern voraus und formulieren als Ideal den Zugriff auf verteilte Ressourcen unterschiedlicher Art über eine Suchoberfläche in einem Rechercheschritt.

- Vascoda (www.vascoda.de), das Internetportal für wissenschaftliche Information, bietet einen interdisziplinären Zugriff auf hochwertige Ressourcen unterschiedlicher Publikationsformen und eine komfortable Navigation zu zahlreichen hochwertigen Fachportalen. Die Einzelportale und vascoda werden mit der finanziellen Unterstützung des Bundesministeriums für Bildung und Forschung (BMBF) und der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) aufgebaut. Organisatorisch handelt es sich um einen einmaligen Zusammenschluss unterschiedlicher Informationsanbieter (Bibliotheken und Informationszentren). Dieser Artikel gibt eine Übersicht über den Hintergrund, das derzeitige Angebot und die Perspektiven von vascoda. Dabei werden die Serviceleistungen des Portals und der einzelnen Fachportale sowie Entwicklungen von Diensten beschrieben. Daneben versucht dieser Beitrag auch eine Definition der mit vascoda verbundenen Vision zu liefern.

- "Anfang März fand in Der Deutschen Bibliothek in Frankfurt a.M. ein Workshop der nationalen Projekte im Bereich Digitale Bibliothek sowie der regionalen bzw. lokalen Projekte statt. Zunächst wurde vascoda, das gemeinsam von BMBF und DFG geförderte Portal, vorgestellt. Derzeit arbeiten die Virtuellen Fachbibliotheken, die Informationsverbünde und die Elektronische Zeitschriftenbibliothek (EZB) an der Realisierung von vascoda, einem zentralen Portal, das auf der IFLA in Berlin im August 2003 vorgestellt werden soll. Es wurde der momentane Stand der Entwicklung präsentiert und die Möglichkeiten der Kooperation aufgezeigt. Ferner stellten die Bibliotheksverbünde und jeweils eine Bibliothek jedes Verbundes sowie die Zeitschriftendatenbank (ZDB), Die Deutsche Bibliothek (DDB) und die Deutsche Internetbibliothek (DBV mit Bertelsmann Stiftung) ihre Tätigkeit in Hinblick auf eine digitale Bibliothek vor. Der Workshop war gemeinsam organisiert vom Deutschen Bibliotheksverband (DBV) für die regionalen Verbünde, Repräsentanten der Bibliotheken, Der Deutschen Bibliothek und ZDB einerseits sowie von der Koordinierungsstelle von vascoda für die Informationsverbünde und Virtuellen Fachbibliotheken andererseits. Er war als Informationsveranstaltung konzipiert, sollte also als Einstiegsveranstaltung für eine intensive Zusammenarbeit aller Beteiligten dienen. So sollte insbesondere der Austausch über die Aktivitäten aller Beteiligten im Hinblick auf laufende Projekte zur Informationsvermittlung im Zeitalter des Internet im Mittelpunkt stehen. Zu diesem Zweck wurde vascoda - in einem Überblicksvortrag und in Einzelvorträgen über die Tätigkeiten in einzelnen Arbeitsgruppen und Fachgebieten - vorgestellt. Die Sprecherinnen der Arbeitsgruppen erläuterten die Zielsetzungen und bereits zu verzeichnenden Erfolge in den Bereichen Content und Technik. In Überblicksvorträgen und kurzen Statements wurden die Angebote der Einzelprojekte in den Fachbereichen Geisteswissenschaften und Regionen, Ingenieur- und Naturwissenschaften, Wirtschaftswissenschaften, Sozialwissenschaften / Psychologie und im Bereich Medizin vorgestellt. Außerdem wurde erläutert, wie die EZB ihre Angebote in das gemeinsame Portal einbringen wird bzw. welche Erweiterungen es geben wird. Die Bibliotheksverbünde und die ZDB erläuterten jeweils ihre eigenen Vorhaben und bekundeten Interesse an einer Zusammenarbeit mit vascoda. Insgesamt besteht bei den nationalen Projekten weiterhin ein großer Abstimmungsbedarf auch im Hinblick auf eine strategische Neuausrichtung nach der Vereinigung der durch BMBF und DFG geförderten Projekte. Vor allem in den Bereichen Contentakquise, Metadaten und Technik muss es weitere Absprachen und Vereinheitlichungen geben. Das durch das gemeinsame Angebot abgedeckte Fächerspektrum muss in Zukunft kontinuierlich erweitert werden. In allen Bibliotheksverbünden wird derzeit an Projekten im Bereich digitale Bibliothek gearbeitet, die meist auf eine lokale oder regionale Portallösung ausgerichtet sind. Bei dem Gemeinschaftsprojekt Verteilter Zeitschriftenserver (VZS) wird an einer überregionalen Lösung gearbeitet. Besonders in diesem Fall ist eine enge Abstimmung mit vascoda anzustreben. In allen Beiträgen wurde deutlich, dass die Bereitschaft und der Wille zur Kooperation vorhanden ist. Die Bereiche einer möglichen Zusammenarbeit und die Details werden in weiteren Sitzungen einzelner Beteiligter zu besprechen sein. Die organisatorische Struktur der Kooperation ist noch nicht absehbar. Vorschläge dazu werden in einem Gespräch von vascoda, der AG Verbundsysteme und des DBV erarbeitet werden. Insgesamt geht es darum, ein Kompetenznetzwerk zu organisieren und eine arbeitsteilige Struktur umzusetzen.
Zu klären sind neben der Verfügbarkeitsrecherche und Fernleih- bzw. Dokumentlieferkomponente auch Fragen der Einkaufspolitik und der Lizenzpolitik. Es gilt eine Strategie zu finden, die die Relationen von kostenpflichtig vs. kostenlos beachtet aber auch die Eigenproduktion von Hochschulen berücksichtigt. Vascoda ist kein geschlossenes System und prinzipiell für weitere Partner offen. Die fachliche Modularisierung wird als sehr wichtig hervorgehoben. Man kann weder grundsätzlich von einem lokalen noch grundsätzlich von einem zentralen Einstieg ausgehen. Vielmehr werden die Nutzerinnen und Nutzer auf verschiedene Weise die Angebote von vascoda und der anderen Partner nutzen. Die Strukturen sollen nicht zentral sondern arbeitsteilig angelegt sein, so dass einzelne Institutionen einzelne Aufgaben erfüllen. Bei überregional zu lösenden Aufgaben soll der fachliche Ansatz im Mittelpunkt stehen. Vascoda soll prinzipiell in alle lokalen digitalen Bibliotheken integrierbar sein. Gleichzeitig müssen alle Nachweisinstrumente, die in Deutschland zur Verfügung stehen, für vascoda nutzbar sein. Abschließend ist festzuhalten, dass es weiterhin lokale Bibliotheksportale geben wird. Darüber hinaus wird es allerdings - gerade für die Bedienung des Spitzenbedarfs - auch ein nationales Portal geben. Der Workshop kann als Beginn einer deutlichen Verbesserung der Dienstleistungen für die Nutzerinnen und Nutzer gesehen werden."

- Abstract
- Mit der Zeitschriftendatenbank (ZDB) steht dem Bibliothekswesen in Deutschland das weltweit größte Nachweissystem für Zeitschriften und andere fortlaufende Sammelwerke zur Verfügung. In den 1970er mit der Zielsetzung begründet, eine überregionale Katalogdatenbank für Zeitschriften zu schaffen, ist die ZDB nach wie vor das einzige bibliothekarische Nachweisinstrument mit nationalem Charakter. Sie enthält Angaben für die Zeitschriftenbestände fast aller wissenschaftlichen Bibliotheken Deutschlands und ermöglicht damit den Überblick über den Gesamtbestand (wissenschaftlicher) Zeitschriften, die in diesen Bibliotheken verfügbar sind. Entscheidend ist dabei, dass Zeitschriften aller Materialarten in der ZDB umfassend nachgewiesen sind und damit die Möglichkeit integrierter bruchloser Recherchen gegeben ist.

- Nach einem kurzen Rückblick auf die Vorgeschichte des Fachinformationsdienstes Buch-, Bibliotheks- und Informationswissenschaft (FID BBI) sowie einer Skizze zum Stand der Fachinformationsdienste im Allgemeinen bietet der vorliegende Bericht aus der Werkstatt des FID BBI vor allem Aussagen zu den Erwerbungskriterien des Dienstes und Informationen zu dem kürzlich freigeschalteten Portal. Die Angaben sollen dem Austausch mit der bibliothekarischen und fachlichen Community dienen und schließen daher auch offene Fragen und noch unerreichte Meilensteine ein.

- Abstract
- Im Kontext der durch die Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) geförderten Projekte "Virtuelle Fachbibliothek Politikwissenschaft" und "Virtuelle Fachbibliothek Wirtschaftswissenschaften" wird für den Nachweis von Onlinequellen jeweils ein Fachinformationsführer aufgebaut. Die verantwortlichen Institutionen, die Staatsund Universitätsbibliothek Hamburg (SUB Hamburg), die Universitäts- und Stadtbibliothek Köln (USB Köln) und die Deutsche Zentralbibliothek für Wirtschaftswissenschaften (ZBW Kiel) haben dazu ein Metadatenkonzept in Abstimmung mit nationalen und internationalen Entwicklungen auf Basis von Dublin Core entwickelt und dieses Konzept beim Aufbau der Verbunddatenbank Internetquellen umgesetzt.
