- Abstract
- Mit dem Nachweis von rund 200.000 von mindestens 265.000 zu erwartenden Titeln ist das von der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft geförderte Unternehmen »Verzeichnis der im deutschen Sprachraum erschienenen Drucke des 17. Jahrhunderts« das wichtigste nationalbibliographische Katalogisierungsunternehmen für das 17. Jahrhundert. Mit dem jetzt erreichten Stand ist es an der Zeit, das Projekt als Ganzes noch einmal in den Blick zu nehmen, um die bisherige Entwicklung, die Erfassungsgrundsätze, erste statistische Ergebnisse und Forschungsperspektiven darzustellen.

- Abstract
- Mit den Literaturnachweisen des OCLC PICA Partners - des Gemeinsamen Bibliotheksverbunds (GBV) - wird WorldCat um einen weiteren großen deutschen Datenbestand erweitert. Die entsprechende Rahmenvereinbarung zwischen der OCLC PICA GmbH und dem GBV wurde am anlässlich des OCLC PICA Partner Update Meetings in Oberhaching unterzeichnet. Nach Zustimmung durch die betroffenen Bibliotheken werden ca. 22 Mio. Titelsätze an WorldCat geliefert. Dazu gehören die Bestände der Stiftung Preußischer Kulturbesitz einschließlich Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin und aller Hochschulbibliotheken in den sieben zum GBV gehörenden Bundesländern. OCLC wird diese Daten in Absprache mit den Bibliotheken kontrolliert an Internetsuchmaschinen wie Google und Yahoo weitergeben. Damit wird neben den Titel- und Besitznachweisen der Niedersächsischen Staats- und Universitätsbibliothek Göttingen und der Bayerischen Staatsbibliothek eine weitere große deutsche Titelsammlung via Internet weltweit recherchierbar sein.

- Abstract
- Der vorliegende Beitrag informiert über das geplante Vorhaben VD 18 (Verzeichnis der im deutschen Sprachraum erschienenen Drucke des 18. Jahrhunderts), seine Vorgeschichte und die vorgesehene Struktur des Projekts. Im Unterschied zu gleichermaßen bezeichneten Projekten für frühere Jahrhunderte wird das VD 18 die Volltext-Digitalisierung aller verzeichneten Drucke bieten. Für den deutschen Sprachraum wird das VD 18 damit die digitale Bibliothek des 18. Jahrhunderts.

- Digitale Bibliotheken unterstützen heute Forschungsaktivitäten in verschiedensten Fachbereichen. Auch die Geisteswissenschaften profitieren dabei von der rasanten technologischen Entwicklung. Im Projekt VD17 werden alle Drucke des 17. Jahrhunderts aus dem damaligen deutschen Sprachraum kooperativ erfaßt. - Abstract
- 1971 ging in Ohio/USA ein EDV-Verbund von 54 College- und Universitätsbibliotheken an den Start, entwickelt vom OCLC, dem "Ohio College Library Center. Bereits 1977 öffnete sich dieser Verbund für interessierte Bibliotheken außerhalb Ohios, verbreitete sich schnell in den USA und schaffte bald auch den Sprung nach Übersee. Aus dem lokalen Verbund entwickelte sich ein globaler Verbund von heute etwa 10.000 Bibliotheken in aller Welt. Der Verbundkatalog dieser Bibliotheken, der WorldCat, ist mit mehr als 77 Mio. Titeln und über 1,1 Milliarden Besitznachweisen die größte bibliografische Datenbank der Welt. OCLC wurde als "Online Computer Library Center", zum globalen Datenbank- und Serviceanbieter für Bibliotheken. Über FirstSearch haben inzwischen 54.000 Bibliotheken und Institutionen weltweit, darunter auch die Zentral- und Landesbibliothek Berlin, als OCLC-Mitglieder online Zugriff auf WorldCat und etwa 70 andere OCLCDatenbanken. Am deutschen Bibliothekswesen ging die Entwicklung des WorldCat allerdings weitestgehend vorbei, das Interesse deutscher Bibliotheken war bisher sehr verhalten, die Teilnahme an diesem Verbund lange Zeit gleich Null. Als erste und bis Ende 2006 auch einzige große deutsche Bibliothek nimmt seit März 2000 nur die Niedersächsische Staats- und Universitätsbibliothek Göttingen aktiv am WorldCat teil. Das soll sich jetzt ändern, nachdem nicht zuletzt durch Open WorldCat das Interesse deutscher Bibliotheken am WorldCat doch noch geweckt werden konnte. Die Übernahme der Katalogdaten der Deutschen Nationalbibliothek in den WorldCat Ende 2006 war ein erster Schritt in die neue Richtung, dem bald weitere folgen sollen mit der Übernahme von Daten der Bayerischen Staatsbibliothek München und der OCLC-PICA-Verbünde GBV und BSZ.

- Seit seinem Erscheinen 1923 liegt dieses zum Standardwerk gewordene Handbuch von Georg Schneider zum zweiten Mal in veränderter Gestalt vor. Die von Friedrich Nestler nun völlig neu bearbeitete Ausgabe behält den Umfang der letzten, fünften Auflage von 1969 bei, nimmt aber die sehr zahlreichen Neuerscheinungen aus reichlich 6 Jahrzehnten sowie die elektronischen verzeichnisse auf und trennt sich weitgehend von älterer Literatur. Dafür sind die Kapitel übersichtlicher angeordnet, um den Stoff strukturell zu straffen, indem die allgemeinen Kataloge, die Bibliographien der Zeitschriften, der Gesellschaftsschriften, der Hochschul- und Schulschriften sowie der amtlichen und der privaten Drucke anders zugeordnet sind. - Abstract
- In dieser Arbeit wird das VD 17-Projekt vorgestellt. Der Erörterung des Themas ist zunächst ein kurzer Exkurs in die Entwicklungsgeschichte des Projekts vorangestellt, um einen Überblick über die Vorgeschichte und Planungsohasen des Projekts zu gewähren. - Die International Bibliography of Bibliographies in Library and Information Science and Related Fields gliedert sich in zwei Teile mit insgesamt 61 Sachkapiteln, die das gesamte Spektrum der Themen rund um das Bibliothekswesen abdecken. Der erste Teil "General" umfaßt neun allgemeine Themenbereiche aus dem gesamten Bibliothekswesen. Im zweiten Teil folgen 52 systematisch nach speziellen Sachgebieten geordnete Kapitel: von "Access to library resources and services" über "Children's literature" und "Micrographics, Microforms" bis zu "Use and users in library and information services". Zusätzliche geographische bzw. chronologische Gliederungskriterien bestimmen den Aufbau zahlreicher Unterkapitel. Jeder Eintrag führt zunächst die bibliographischen Angaben (Autor oder Herausgeber, Titel, Verlag, bei Aufsätzen den jeweiligen Buch- oder Zeitschriftentitel mit Seitenangabe, eventuell Reihentitel, Erscheinungsjahr, Seitenzahl) au£ Hierauf folgen erläuternde Anmerkungen, ggf. mit der englischen Übersetzung des Originaltitels, mit Hinweisen auf Parallelausgaben und andere Auflagen, eine kurze Inhaltsangabe sowie Hinweise auf Rezensionen - auch über den Berichtszeitraum der Bibliographie hinaus. Vier Register (ein Autoren-, ein Titel- und ein Sachregister sowie ein geographischer Index) bieten einen raschen Zugriff auf dieses vielschichtige und umfassende Nachschlagewerk und erleichtern die schnelle und gezielte Recherche.

- Der jetzt vorliegende erste Band der International Bibliography of Bibliographies in Library and Information Science and Related Fields weist für den Zeitraum von 1945 bis 1978 ca. 10.000 Bibliographien zum Thema Bibliotheks- und Informationswissenschaft nach. Auch verwandte Gebiete, wie beispielsweise Archivwesen, Verlagswesen, Buchhandel, Geschichte der Schrift, Buchgeschichte, Papiergeschichte, Geschichte des Buchdrucks, Buchkunst oder Urheberrecht finden Berücksichtigung. Damit ist diese Bibliographie, die in zwei Bänden mit zusammen ca. 20.000 Einträgen den gesamten Zeitraum vom Ende des Zweiten Weltkriegs bis 1990 abdeckt, die umfassendste ihrer Art. Als Quellengrundlage für den ersten Band dienten zahlreiche internationale und nationale Bibliographien, Fachbibliographien und Enzyklopädien für den Bereich der Bibliotheks- und Informationswissenschaft, themenrelevante Fachzeitschriften sowie eine bereits 1985 von Henryk Sawoniak in Polen veröffentlichte einschlägige Bibliographie. Mehr als ein Drittel der aufgenommenen Bibliographien erschien selbständig in Buchform, jeweils etwa ein Viertel in Zeitschriften oder als Teil eines Buches. Bd.2 weist für den Zeitraum 1979-1990 mehr als 10.000 Bibliographien zu den Themen Bibliotheks- und Informationswissenschaft, Buchhandel und Verlage, Reprographie, Buchkunst, Urheberrecht, Geschichte des Buches und des Drucks, des Alphabets und der Schrift, der Papierherstellung und vielen weiteren Randgebieten des Bibliothekswesens nach.

- Im Aisthesis Verlag ist der erste Teil der Bibliografie Brigitte Reimann von Kristina Stella erschienen. Die Bibliografie ist das Ergebnis der jahrelangen Recherchen Stellas in Bibliotheken und Archiven. Das umfangreiche Nachschlagewerk ermöglicht erstmalig einen vollständigen Überblick über das Werk der DDR-Schriftstellerin und dessen Rezeption. Teil A verzeichnet die Primärliteratur und enthält zahlreiche Hintergrundinformationen zu den Werken und deren unterschiedlichen Ausgaben. Der Nachweis der Originalmanuskripte und der umfangreichen Korrespondenz Brigitte Reimanns mit Privatpersonen und Institutionen bietet eine umfassende Übersicht über die in den Archiven vorhandenen Dokumente. Bühnenwerke, Rundfunksendungen, Fernsehsendungen und Veranstaltungen mit Beteiligung von Brigitte Reimann werden in Auswahl nachgewiesen. Teil B dokumentiert die Sekundärliteratur zu den Texten Reimanns sowie die auf die Person Brigitte Reimann bezogenen Publikationen. Der Nachweis der Originaldokumente im Sekundärteil verzeichnet unter anderem die der Forschung zugänglichen Akten des Ministeriums für Staatssicherheit. Bühnenwerke, Rundfunksendungen, Fernsehsendungen und Veranstaltungen über Brigitte Reimann werden in Auswahl nachgewiesen. Teil C bietet mittels zahlreicher Register und Verzeichnisse umfangreiche Sucheinstiege für den Primär- und Sekundärteil. - Abstract
- Die Schweizerische Landesbibliothek (SLB) hat in den 90er-Jahren eine grundlegende Reorganisation ihrer Strukturen und Arbeitsabläufe in Angriff genommen, um die Qualität ihrer Dienstleistungen zu verbessern. Dazu gehörte auch die Verbesserung des bibliografischen Zugriffs auf die Bestände. In vielen Bereichen mangelte es am Anschluss an die internationalen bibliografischen Standards. Eine Evaluierung dieser Situation führte beispielsweise 1993 zur Einführung von USMARC (jetzt MARC 21) als Austauschformat, zum Ersatz eines auf der Universalen Dezimalklassifikation basierenden Indexierungssystems durch die Schlagwortnormdatei (SWD) und die Regeln für den Schlagwortkatalog (RSWK) 1998 und schließlich zur Übernahme der Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules (AACR2) für die alphabetische Katalogisierung. Die letzte Stufe dieser Reorganisation war die Renovierung des Bibliotheksgebäudes selbst, die 1999 begann und 2001 abgeschlossen wurde. Dadurch konnten die Freihandbestände ausgeweitet und verbessert werden; der dafür notwendige Bestandsausbau begann bereits 1997. Dabei sollten auch die Zugriffsmöglichkeiten auf die Bestände verbessert werden. Deshalb führte man 1998 eine Untersuchung zur Auswahl eines Klassifikationssystems durch, das zur Aufstellung der folgenden Freihandbestände geeignet sein sollte: - die Forschungsbibliothek Schweiz (FBCH): eine Sammlung von etwa 30.000 Bänden zu den Themen Kultur, Politik, Geschichte, Umwelt und technische Entwicklung in der Schweiz, - der Lesesaal: eine Sammlung von 10.000 Nachschlagewerken und - das Schweizerische Literaturarchiv: etwa 10.000 literarische Werke von schweizer Autoren und dazu gehörender Sekundärliteratur. Neben der Nutzung als Aufstellungssystem sollte die Klassifikation für zwei weitere Zwecke geeignet sein. Eine sachliche Zugangsmöglichkeit zusätzlich zur Aufstellung sollte durch den elektronischen Bibliothekskatalog angeboten werden, indem die Dokumente durch ein entsprechendes Feld für die Klassifikation im Katalogisierungssystem recherchierbar wurden. Außerdem wurde eine Umstellung der Nationalbibliografie Das Schweizer Buch (SB) zu ihrem hundertsten Geburtstag 2001 geplant. Da die Bibliografie seit langem unverändert geblieben war, sollte ein Klassifikationsschema eingeführt werden, das mit den Empfehlungen der IFLA und der UNESCO übereinstimmte.

- Abstract
- Am Beispiel der Zentralbibliothek der Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH wird der Paradigmenwechsel bibliographischer Alltagsroutine zwischen 1978 und 1998 vorgestellt. Vor dem Hintergrund der veränderten Informationstechnologie der letzten 20 Jahre werden einerseits die eingesetzten Nachweisinstrumente und deren Evolution beschrieben, andererseits die Veränderungen der konkreten Arbeitsprozesse beim Bibliographieren illustriert. Dabei wird ein Spektrum abgedeckt, das von gedruckten Bibliographien und Referateblättern über Mikrofiche und Magnetbänder, Online- und CD-ROM-Datenbanken bis zum "WeltWideWeb" reicht. Wir zeigen, daß der bibliographische Arbeitsprozeß neu definiert werden muß, in seiner Grundfunktion aber nicht obsolet geworden ist
